Crossfader in studio mode question

is there a way for the crossfader to control the destination of audio (main - cue) with just one track?
scene A for audio to be full on main and none on the cue, and vice versa on B.
i have done this with two tracks with the same source, but with 3 different inputs that’s 6 tracks…
am sending cue to a RMX 1000 for aditional effects, and find the crossfader as a dry/wet a hoot, since the pioneer lacks it.

If I’m understanding you right you want to use the crossfader to send audio out CUE to your fx processor and then back into the Octatrack - but it’s taking up too many tracks?

I’d say the best way to take up less tracks is to set your scenes up to output as you have been (Left side is DRY right is WET out CUE for example) and then input your FX machine back into Octatrack AB.
Now enter the mixer and turn up AB DIR level. This means you won’t take up another track for AB or even CD if you’re using multiple FX processors.

As an added bonus you can Scene lock the DIR MIX level with the crossfader too.

Did I interpret your intentions correctly?

Thanks for the reply, no, sorry for being unclear.
i have both the main and cue inserted in my audio card for recording. The cue out goes through RMX first. I wish to be able to use the crossfader to change the output from main to cue and back.

Aaaah I see the problem - In studio mode it doesn’t appear you can do this.
If you change it to normal mode and then press CUE + all the tracks you want to send to the RMX this will work. You hold CUE and then assign level to the crossfader sides.

The only downside to this is having the track lights blinking all the time.

I use this similarly with a Kaoss Pad Quad, although I choose not to crossfade the between MAIN and CUE but instantly switch between them using the “CUE mutes track” option.

Also you have to be mindful of the CUE levels set. They should mirror the main levels exactly if you want it to be a true wet/dry mix.
A shortcoming of CUE mode, in my opinion, is not being able to send the master track to CUE - making this kind of thing more difficult.

Yes, the cue output has a strange configuration when in studio mode, it can even send audio from the machine above a neighbour one, and it ignores the min max values of crossfader scenes, so when i set up the version which uses 2 tracks one track had the min max values for the crossfader (the main out one) while the cue had to be dealt with via the amp page vol parameter.

Ok so you can’t even assign CUE to either side of the crossfader… Well that sucks. Sorry I didn’t try what I suggested first, I was sure I did it ages ago and it worked but looks like I was wrong.

I would absolutely love CUE to be on the crossfader… Make this a +1 for this feature request.
