Crossfader dust sleeve

Has anyone ordered a crossfader dust sleeve as a spare part from Elektron or know if this is possible? I was an early adopter of the Octatrack and at that time they did not come fitted with this part.

id def like one, dont know if its pos without sending it to sweden though
the early models like mine, dont have the dust covers/crossfader protection

As I´m an early adopter too I ordered one and installed it, no problem at all.
You should send a mail to the elktron-support.

what M8 said. I don’t know when Elektron started adding them, but if it’s still under warranty they’re going to require you to send it in

Mmmh doesnt elektron install those anymore ? I got a OT from the “new” batch and it came without the dust protection.

it’s subtle, i guess you compared to image above, tbh, i’m not sure how helpful it is for dust, might stop a few crumbs tho ! best ask them if you can retrofit if it is indeed missing by mistake

if you sometimes play in windy, dusty outdoor environments (rare, yes, but i did once), or like to smoke while juggling the xfader, the dust protector is a prety good idea…

I just double checked and theres some kind of material protecting the slot, didnt saw it before i took a flashlight and looked closely. It differs abit and theres more space to let dirt through, you can also see the internals of the fader. Heres a photo:

Iam not worried at all, just wondered if they changed something with the new batch. Oh well, tbh, iam afraid of the hair of our cat, its evil -,- .

The cat gets brushed everday, its a main coon, so theres always alot left … and i cant prevent him to sleep on the my keyboad (with a dustcover) ^^ .

My gf’s cat is a maine coonish as well. I’m more concerned about him pulling knobs off. I found him with one of my knobs from my z2 mixer and another from my 808 clone. lol. He seems to like the rubbery knurled ones. He doesn’t seem to like the smooth elektron ones.

You can also use compressed air to fix any dust in the slider. It’s optical so you don’t need to lubricate!

DIY Fix (in case you can’t wait for Elektron HQ to send you one)

Go to any local fabric store and ask for “interface” get a few inches

measure cut and install with adhesive.

Flip the top panel text side facing down on a soft cloth (towel )

Use a razor blade or x-acto knife cut through and done !

reinstall top panel.

This closes up that bit of exposed fader space

I dont have a felt on my new one and I think I am of the view that if it aint broke dont fix it plus of course its expensive so i dont eat over it, I made a holder for it so it is at 45 degrees so its not controlled directly with me above it. so harder to spill or drop anything in it.
