Creating/recording my samples

Hi.

I’ve been planing to synthesize and record my own samples from synths and nature…
I have Zoom recorder for some noises/hits and a Slim Phatty for bottom end. I plan to layer those for some new hits.

I got a few questions…

  1. What are some good sample sources for getting the “knock” that sits under the low end (Phatty) kick.
    and please give me some tips for snares/congas/rims. I know its all probably all about my crativity, but would like to know is there any good tips that i might missed.

  2. After i sampled 'em, is it a good thing to normalize 'em??

  3. Any further tips are welcome.

Most important tip is the one I say all the time:
get off the internet talking about it and do it. you’ll quickly learn if you think you should normalise or not, which is really a personal preference (I do both).

As for ‘the low end under the phatty’…? I would think the phatty could go as low as you want.
