Creating a preset sound

Sorry if this is a silly question, i just dont seem to find the answer by myself.

Last night i was working on the Sciencelab challenge on my OT and hit on an incredible groove based on a track + trig + scene with parameter locks/mods.

I want to save this and re-use it as a track later on another project, how do i do it?

I dont want to sample it because that removes the possibilities of the effect i have working at the moment. And the sound is based on a part of a sample (not a slice).

Somewhere it looks like the OT cannot save a sound preset like we can on other synths… Am i wrong?

I would save the project as new, and work from there.

That seemed obvious… What if you want to recall that preset in another project though?

I have no idea. I think I saw something about being able to copy banks across projects using the computer but don’t remember where I saw it. Pencil and paper might work if there’s not too much to write down…

Maybe with sisex? Seems like a big hole in the feature set…

You’re playing a track on the OT, want to recall a sound, and there it would be…

So far the only way i see it is to copy track, change project, copy part, change project, copy pattern, change project…

So you would like to be able to save the Track / Trigs, Part / Scene / Machine / Effects / LFO assignments etc, all bundled up in one preset that you can recall later?

Makes note…

…here we go again…

…this is still one of the dark sides when working with the octatrack…

…you got 16 banks…so always make the last three or four banks the lab area where you fool around and stumble over those beautiful results…

and then get serious with it in a dedicated running order somewhere in the first banks…
copy banks and patterns is ONLY within a project an easy thing…
beyond the project borders it get’s tricky…

no chance to copy settings like this from projekpct to project…

there is some option to fool around in the folder system…but thats a bit like rewriting terminal datat in a computer…you have to act behind the custom curtain for this…with a big chance to fuck it all up…

catching a saved bank from another project is possible…but then you have to recreate the sample pool in the new project to make it work again…same with the pattern data…

but the more you’re able to overlook this machine, the more you’re able to recreate results…no matter how magic and complicated the settings seem to be in first place…

if it comes down to play live, keep in mind you can easily play for an hour in a row with the the first 8 banks…
reloading another project takes not more than a minute…
so give up the idea to get it all squeezed in within one project…

you don’t have to…

and keep in mind that resampling won’t kill your further options to play with it…
when working with project crossovers, there is always a solution to freeze some things and use it as fixed samples somewhere else easily…

The resampling was the only option is saw and i still think it would loose some of the original sample…

This begs for an OT editor on the PC…

…yup.

no overbridge for the ot?

ok…but a filestructure that opens up to. more easy organisation options at least on the computer should be part of the next update…

but "til end of the year there will be only overbridge overbridge overbridge and some updates for the a4 and the rytm…

don’t forget the octatrack, guys…

I swear the last step for me in becoming a successful musician is overbridge support for the OT. I was actually just talking to Panda Bear and he said that he isn’t sure if he’ll ever finish his next album without overbridge support.

Overbridge is not happening for the OT, this has been discussed many times.

yeah, sorry if my sarcasm wasn’t clear enough.

Oh

My detector was not working…
