it is actually quite well thought out.
if you could have arbitrary tags, e.g. sharing tagged sounds would be quite horrendous.
you would quickly accumulate a number of weird tags that would occur only once.
the list of tags to choose from would grow and become unwieldy… soon you would need a search function for tags themselves…
right now, tags are simply a 4-byte bitmask in the sound data. it’s implemented quite elegantly and efficiently.
(though I’m not sure about the actual names that were chosen for them, some of them seem slightly overspecific, while others are more or less meaningless to me.)
