I think you should try performing the MIDI UPGRADE procedure you will follow in the manual and in OS update’s ReadMe file.
Do you have access to EARLY STARTUP MENU?
[FUNCT held while powering on]
Yes i tried that for Empty reset : it goes back to the weird screen. And for the Midi Update don’t work with USB cable
pretty much every manual that discusses firmware updates says in big letters – DO NOT TURN OFF/POWER DOWN during the update because you will brick your machine.
At this point, unless you can somehow get it to the early startup menu, it’s probably going to need to be sent back to Elektron for reflashing.
Yep, sounds like you should’ve kept away from the power button, but for future reference it does seem to update quickly by the bin method. Please note, you cannot update by USB midi as there is no usb midi, you need to use a separate midi device to talk to OT !
I turned it off because it was blocked in the middle of the updating couldn’t do anything else .
Had much similar problem with Machinedrum. It turned out that the board contacts were oxidised and just had to be cleaned. Did it locally, cost me $20 bucks. But first contact Elektron support as this might not be your case
mine is cleaned like if it was new.
Have you tried booting with out the CF inserted?
Yes i tried cause i red someone had this problem
still no news from elektron
Hi,
Any news from elektron?
I’ve had precisely the same issue with the new update and I can’t get a hold of them.
Did you send the OT back to them so that they could fix it or is there an easy fix manoeuvre that can be done from home?
Hi,
Do you try to do :
- POWER UP + Function
- Select -> " 3. .Midi UPGRADE "
- Use C6 software to send the .syx file
I hope that will help you !
Hi this helped for me. Thanks a lot! What I did exactly was:
- Turned it on holding FUNCTION;
- Selected n°3 (trig);
- Sent the .syx file of the newest software via C6 trough a midi interface (usb > midi);
After this the OT rebooted
Hi I have the same Problem as you. Have you find a solution?
THX
Hi. How did you upgraded?
Yes, I saw this topic but no clear answer in this one I upgraded via the hard Disq of the octotrack that remained stuck, I had to turn off the octotrack unfortunately…
I have a midi man , i put the midi upgrade in the menu Start up Menu
Midi in in the Midi man and Midi Thru in the OT…
But nothing Happens
I really need Help
This is my first OT and im disapointed.
You mean you placed the .Bin file on the compact flash card, and started upgrade?
Did you use a mac? (potential USB problems, maybe better to unplug the USB cable while upgrading).
Which Midiman?
What software do you use?
Cables should problably be plugged like this :
Midiman midi OUT → OT midi IN
(Maybe not necessary, but you can also plug like this additionally :
OT midi OUT → Midiman midi IN)
SYSEX upgrade
- Connect the Octatrack’s MIDI ports to the computer’s MIDI interface. The upgrade can not be sent over the Octatrack’s USB port.
- Load the new OS in an appropriate program capable of sending sysex files. To send the OS file, use our free Elektron Transfer software that can be downloaded from the Elektron website.
- Choose MIDI UPGRADE by pressing the third [TRIG] key. The Octatrack will wait for the OS to be transmitted to it and a message stating ``READY TO RECEIVE MIDI UPGRADE…‘’ will appear on the screen.
- As the Octatrack receives the OS, the [TRIG] LEDs/keys will light up one after another. Please note that this procedure takes a while.
- When the transfer is finished the message ``PREPARING FLASH’’ appears.
PREPARING FLASH'' is shortly followed by
UPDATING FLASH’'. When this process is finished the OS is updated. After the upgrade the operating system may upgrade the bootstrap, do not turn off the unit before it has completed its startup sequence or explicitly tells you to restart.
