Corrupted Files scattered About

Hey folks.
Went to backup my flashcard and I found a bunch of very small and very large files scattered about with odd characters.
The specific folders containing these odd characters cannot be transferred to a harddisk and the content also will not delete.

I presume I need to format, which is rather scary despite feeling rather confident that everything is backed up.

here are some questions which you might help me with:

  1. what could have caused this? magnets? Airport Xrays?

  2. Can I assume this card is now toast? or should a reformat basically solve the issue?

  3. Can I assume that the directory where the files are corrupted is also where the broken data is located? or could I have lost items located in totally different directories (i.e., not subdirectories).

thanks

Also, If I delete them via the File Manager, I occasionally get this message.

If I were you, I would backup everything that is on the card and buy a new one.

Could also be something else than a failing card:

Thanks. I have been using a different card without issues. I haven’t tested reformatting and utilizing the old card.
