If you need to make posts like this, you dont want one.
Only get one if you are convinced that itās exactly what you need after reading the manual and so on.
It takes an age to understand (for most of us). The screen is small and cluttered. It tries to do too much in one box. Itās easy to make it sound bad because there are multiple gain stages and no metering and the crumbly timestretch is on by default.
I mostly keep mine because the alternatives all involve touchscreens ( ) or minijacks (
) and the OT does connectivity properly. It also looks cool and is solid AF.
If you have good self esteem and a healthy bank account, why not give it a try?
Itās old, the sound quality isnāt there, the FX are dated, fader doesnāt work with MIDI, MIDI sync isnāt great, OT MK3 just around the corner.
Iām out!
I never had problems with MIDI sync, but I couldnāt get past the sound quality. A mkIII with all the beefy low end & extended high end response of the DT/DTII would be great. Iām doing just fine with the dtIIā¦but I wish I had that crossfader!
ā¦and some cherry wine.
And take your clothes off!
You folks have clothes on?
Nope, I spilled cherry wine all over mine and theyāre in the wash. Iām just wearing my new reading glasses which make the little screen on my OT way easier to read!
And here I thought you were topless!
If I understand correctly, you wonāt know whether the Octatrack the cat is holding is yours or already sold until you open the box.
For the money, you could buy a plane ticket to Buenos Aires. Beautiful city, and the yerba mate is dirt cheap.
Iāve had an OT for about 11 years. Since then Iāve tried new and vintage Akais and Push with Live and the OT is still my favorite and most fun sampler.
Not from where I live you cant.
Plus I already have an octatrack, and dont like yerba mate.
You can only do that with an OT, so buy one!
Superbooth 25 is around corner. Wait to see if there is something new from Elektron
