Controlling MIDI Tracks Parameters with external MIDI controller

Hello guys!

First post here. After reading a bunch of times this forum I decided to create an account because this is driving me nuts:

I am planning a live set. I have a Nord Drum 3p, an OTmk1 and the Behringer BCR2000, and the Hapax.

My initial thought was Oh I can map the knobs of the BCR2000 to the Midi CCs of the MIDI tracks on the OT, so in this way I can record some real time “automation” recordings with the knob twisting! Fine, so I encountered that I can only map parameters to the OT audio tracks, not the midi tracks :disappointed: and I am not new to MIDI and I guess that I am doing everything well, but looks like not.

In the MIDI tracks menu for the audio tracks, everything works fine, but I cannot make it to work with the MIDI tracks, and I want to know If its possible.

I tried with the Auto Channel and it worked, but I want to control the Midi ccs that the octa is sending to the Nord Drum, as well as being able to send MIDI notes from the hapax, but for the moment I cannot make it work , hope you can help me! Thanks

The thing is that I want to map the MIDI Ccs of the OT to my BCR2000 knobs PER CHANNEL, but I could only do it with the autochannel and It is a bit messy, as well as being able to send midi notes from the hapax to the ot, and the OT passing only the notes to the Nord Drum.

Byee

Welcome @twoxxo

Possible. Midi tracks channels have to be different from audio tracks channels (1-8 by default).

If an audio track and a MIDI track share the same MIDI channel, the MIDI track will block the audio track from sending out data while the audio track will block the MIDI track from receiving data. In the PROJECT menu you can see which MIDI channels are assigned to which audio tracks

Hello! Thank you for your reply. I saw you many times around, you saved my life many times with your help on other topics :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

So I tried to set the midi channels of the midi tracks so It does not match the audio tracks, Input Midi track 1 on channel 11 -12 but Still does not work, tried to activate and deactivate cc direct connect on/off, and It is still not working :disappointed: btw, thanks for your help!

Thanks @twoxxo
It should work with default project settings.
CC DIRECT CONNECT has to be ON, otherwise CCs only respond to Auto Channel, and specific CCs (see Appendix C, midi tracks). OFF setting is usefull if you want to control other midi tracks parameters with Auto Channel, I never found it useful in my case.

I’d try again from a new project to be sure what is working, what is wrong. Use channels 9-16.
Make it simple first.

Its working now. Thank you so much!

Another question:

Is there a way to input notes on the OT/AR/Cycles from an external sequencer (Torso T1) and only record via real time recording the trigless trigs? The trigless trigs would be knob movements on the machines, so in this way I can alter the sequence and keep having the knob movements recorded onto the elektron sequencer?

Thanks! You are a life saver :relaxed:

You can filter midi notes in MIDI > CONTROL
