Hey, I could not, for the life of me, find a straight answer for this, so I’ll just ask… is it possible to control Octatrack functions (track vol, record, etc) via an external controller using Ableton as the go-between?
Right now I’m setup with a XONE:4D mixer controlling my track vol/effects/etc in Ableton and I’m looking to add an Octatrack as an FX unit to the mixer to loop/mangle everything. Could I MIDI map the XONE:4D to a few channels in Ableton then have them pass MIDI on to the Octa? Is this all a dream?
I don’t use that mixer or Ableton, but if you check out Appendix C of the OT manual you will find the MIDI notes and CC values that can be sent to the OT to control its functions.

Just to clarify: Can I MIDI-map a fader on my XONE:4D to a fader in Ableton then have that channel output a different MIDI cc to the Octatrack to control it?

would love to know this as well! found a way through dummy clips, but is not so effective for live playing. is there any other way!?
