Control Audio Channels from same external MIDI channel

Hi everyone, first post. Great forum : )

Had a search around and looked at the manual - can’t quite workout if this is possible.

Using the OT as the master clock via MIDI to a modular. Looking at a module that can send four separate trigger patterns from sequencer modules out on a single MIDI channel at, for example, C3, C#3, D3, D#3 back to the OT.

Can I configure audio channels 1-4 to the same MIDI channel and them to respond to a specific notes for triggering samples (non-chromatic)? Channel 1 C3 etc… If not, can you think of any work-arounds??

Also resample the modular live, if I can get this to work can you see any potential problems, latency etc?

Cheers!

Should be easy. In the manual, MIDI Implementation:

The # is the octave. It’s one of these, don’t really know which one. So just go to your auto channel, try these sets of notes, see if it works

#3 (24-35) | Track Trigs
#4 (36-47) | Sample Trigs

Check page C-1 of the OT manual. You can send MIDI Note messages 24-31 to trigger the 8 audio tracks, 36-43 to trigger the assigned samples, etc.

I don’t know what timing limitations your modules might have. I doubt that it would be a problem.

cheers for the quick replies : ) will give this a try

so the external seq would need to be set to the auto channel?

what the difference here between triggering the audio channel and the assigned samples? sorry if that’s a obvious questions, doesn’t triggering the audio channel play the sample loaded?

I was confused about that myself. But I THINK the track trigs might work only when the tracks are set to ‘plays free’ mode, in which they basically don’t launch before they’re manually launched. So the sample trigs would be the right ones, probably?

Cheers - this worked : )

Is there a way to easily mute incoming MIDI on individual channels so I can switch to using the internal sequencer (then switch back as needed)?

anyone know if this is possible? cheers

“Muting” of MIDI data might best be done from the source. Otherwise, on the OT you could change the MIDI channels on which the audio tracks respond in the Global settings.

On the OT you can also disconnect individual tracks from the sequencer and trigger them manually with [TRIG] keys 1 to 8.
