Control All on Rytm

Got it to work nicely with all filters at 0, each track having a positive perfomance value of where I would like each one, and leaving the OT knob at 127 ready to turn down and have all the filters go from their individual values down to 0…

Now I’m sidetracked as I’ve noticed distortion on my bass drum when the filter is low, and have tracked it to the compressor as it clears up without it. Thing is nothing is really that loud and the compressor settings are tame, so off on another tangent…

But yeah, when I get back at it I’ll figure out how to hit my filter values with the OT knob at 100, and have scaled control all filters!

Yes @Open_Mike loving your work! I won’t be back in my studio until next week, but the wait to give this all a go is killing me!

Just tried Control All (same midi channel for all tracks) with midi loopback (midi cable between in and out). Works apparently really well, even with live recording (max number of plocks reached!).

I made a global slot 1 for Ctr All with all tracks on channel 1, and a slot 2 for regular use.
Easy to switch, great to make same settings on all tracks, or group of tracks sharing same channel.

You can set Mute to int.

this is a great idea. we need to collate all the tips like this for a RYTM TIPS AND TRICKS document.

Tested again, midi loopback works like a charm, except with Lfo Depth. Reading midi chart, it sends Msb and Lsb.
Midi processor Lsb filtering should work. I didn’t try NRPN.
Edit : works with NRPN.

So here is a video with CALM : Control All Loopback Midi!
Or CALOR : Control AL On Rytm :content:

Edit : Video deleted for some reasons. Another dirty one below…

Cool features I didn’t expect in Trig Menu :

  • Pitch all tracks chromatically
  • Control velocity of all trigs > 4 velocity mod parameters
  • Turn on / off all analog machines
  • Turn on / off all samples
  • Turn on / off all filter envelopes
  • Turn on / off all lfo trig (FREE mode only?)

These parameters can be reloaded with Pattern Reload.
For other parameters modifications, use Kit Reload.

You can make groups with different channels.

A sign of genius is often when colleagues witnesses a new paradigm introduced and smack their heads and say, “Duh. Of course.”

Fantastic. So now the AR has a wicked Control All. Only problem ofc is that it takes the midi in port. But def can be done.

Nice beat btw. I like how you brought a whole mess of things in when you really started going for it. :mage:

Control All from scratch, default kit. Beware, noisy.

can you please upload the video again, and explain please whats control all loopback midi?

I don’t have it anymore. The dirty sound video above uses the same principle.

Tracks on the same midi channels
Tweaking knobs sends midi Control Changes
Midi Out > Cable > Midi In
CCs are received by all tracks on the same midi channel

hi,

just tested this trick wich is great to assign the same set of parameters to multiple tracks.

sadly though i am pretty sure this is not similar to control all in the other boxes, because it sends the current parameter value to all the tracks, as opposed to control all witch sends an offsets applied to the current value of each track.

best way to emulate the real thing would be to define a template in the performance page i guess.

Yes. Can be used to make a template Kit quicker.
You can use a global slot with specific midi channels to control several tracks parameters by group, and switch back to a regular settings slot.

And yes, no offset and absolute.

This sounds really helpful to me, but I’m just not understanding it very well. Can you please explain further with more detail?

Each track can send and receive midi messages (Control Changes) when you turn the knobs (sent to midi OUT) or receive external midi CCs (received by midi IN).

This is usually used to record and play an automation with a DAW, or use an external controller.

By default, each track has a different midi channel. lf you plug a midi cable between in and out, and set all the tracks with the same midi channel, moving a knob of a track will send a CC on its channel, and all other tracks having the same channel will receive it.
You can make groups by selecting a different midi channel per group.

The list of CC parameters is at the end of the manual.

This is simple when you know midi, don’t hesitate to ask more concerning unclear points.

i tried to create some kind of a template for “control all” using performance section
and this experience is all frustration.

  • it reminds me that performance edit is a pain in the $#@.

  • plus it feels buggy, sometimes i cannot edit certain parameters anymore without understanding why.

  • it is attached to the kits and there seem to be no easy way to copy from a kit to another.

maybe it is possible to edit scenes with overbridge, i mean if it works some day…

bah. (frustration)

edit : just tested overbridge, actually it is worse. not possible to define negative offset to parameters, only positive for now. no edit facilities

I don’t feel confortable with Perf non plus.
OT scenes !
So much possibilities with scenes morphing, from drastic to very smooth changes!

Pads are ok for some perf tricks but not practical for very smooth transitions. I think I’ll control some perf with external midi knobs, and eventually several perfs with OT’s crossfader + midi processor like @guga’s Goliath.

Isn’t it because you reach the 48 Perf locks limitation?

Did you check @mekohler’s Collider?

ah. that’s it. thanks

on the mk2 the quick perf amount knob improve things, but clear no competition with the crossfader of the OT!!!

Same for A4. I’m still jealous. :meh:
OT crossfader > A4 Quick Perf + AR Quick Perf :open_mouth:
