I’m fairly new to Octatrack, I’ve had it for 1 month now, used it everyday, so I’m kind of getting familiar. I really love it but have been going slightly crazy over the past 2 days trying to work out continuous sampling/playback methods.
I want to play a fairly loose analogue synth arrangement into octatrack on a flex machine, on a one shot record trigger, and to then be able to bring that up as a one shot sample loop on the sequencer, with plocks, and for this to happen without there being a gap in playback.
Ie, for it to work as tight as if it was a gig scenario.
I realise this is quite alot to ask from one small machine. If it’s at all possible then I would be pretty blown away…
it’s not a lot to ask from the OT, check out “parts” in the manual…you could have one part with a thru machine and then another part as a flex machine recorder of that track…so on part 1 you’re live, you hit key to record, once recorded you switch parts and you are working on the flex machine capture of it…obviously, that is a very general comment and there are lots of ways to skin a cat but I use that particular method quite a bit…with multiple tracks and setting proper record trigs you could even have it sampling constantly on the live track with plocks, filter changes, LFOs, etc etc on a different track
the OT is extremely flexible when it comes to the tracks and recorders
The pattern thing is good too, it just means when when I change to pattern 16 the pattern on track 1 that I want to record internally on source 3 changes to pattern 16. and it’s always a blank pattern. Keeps on catching me out.
