Connecting DK DN coherently

Hi,

I’m very new to synthesisers and have jumped right into the deep end. I’ve managed to acquire a DK, DN and an Arturia Keystep (KS) and am trying to connect them together along with a Roland TB-03 Bassline (BL).

I’ve set up my DK and DN like this gentleman:

Setting up Digitakt+Digitone combo

And that’s all I’ve done yet.

That said, the KS is also connected to the DK midi in and the BL is connected to the DK midi thru. There is no issue that I’m aware of so far but I was thinking of pursuing this with the KS:

Tutorial: Digitakt - using external keyboard

If I set it up this way, I’d like to be able use the KS to play/record either of the 3 synths. Can I do this by choosing the appropriate track (midi or audio) on the DK assuming I add a fifth midi track that’s associated with the midi channel the BL is configured for?

Cheers

Pat

I’ve just run through this video as described above:

Tutorial: Digitakt - using external keyboard

But I can’t get any response to the KS from the DN with this config. I’ve set up the BL to listen on midi Ch 13 and when I change the KS midi channel to 13, I can play it.

Is playing the DN from the KS in this config desirable/possible or do I need something like a midi thru box to make it work?

Cheers
Pat

hi, please use the forum search, there are plenty of good topics with DT, DN and keystep in this forum.

also digitakt is DT in the forum, DK could be misleading to digitone keys…

maybe try to get those three to work togeter first and add tb-3 later, for simplicity… what you described in your first post should be possible. feel free to come back with specific questions.

It’s entirely possible and you don’t need any additional hardware.

You’re right. Really confused me too. I thought why bother with the KS at all if you have a DNK and a DN haha
