I havent used the internal effects so far but started a new patten today and wanted to play around with some reverb stuff. But the reverb was not hearable at all. Than i noticed that the reverb for example is really only hearable when the Track Volume is turned up to allmost maxmimum.
I like to have all my Track Volumes set to 60-90 and the Master Volume on Max. because i want to save some headroom for other much more quieter sounds than the Bassdrums. But in this case the signal for the effects seems to be too low.
And whats the differnce between Track Volume and AMP Volume anyway?
yap its all set to maximum.
As i sad i dont understand why the effects dissapear when i turn the track volume down. I would understand this to happen if turn the amp volume of the track down but not the overall track volume.
Yes, I figured to rather lower volume on the synth and sampler pages and keep Track and AMP volumes always close to maximum, for keeping a wider range of reverb and delay potential for the track.
I guess it is meant to work like on an analog mixer, AMP volume would be like input gain, Track volume like fader position. But here you cannot go above unity oder 0db with it in case you might need itā¦ I also would rather prefer for AMP volume not messing with send amounts. I think itās a bit of policy discouraging people for flooding their track, with fx too easily, there is some comment in the manual pointing to this. A bit patronizing maybe? I can understand reverb and delay is often overused by newcomers, I am also guilty sometimes. Seems they made it a bit more difficult, but you can still dial it inā¦ only I canāt have prefader Fx sends as I can use on my mixerā¦ sometimes I would like a spooky reverb only effect on a track or similar. A real limitation.
But I think I can still live and play with what is available for now.
Edit: Your are right, itās actually not just a llinear influence, itās even scaling send levels further down when reducing volume.
@selvi: yes i allready figured out the point with the synth volume. But thats not working for me because the colour of sound really changes a lot when turning down the synth volume. Especially when the track runs through Distortion. What makes perfect sense for me.
Damn it i really like the reverb. Loks like i should overthink the whole way im working this machine
Ive been using the AR running into the OT for a lil while now.
Since Iām just a bedroom producer kind of guy, naturally I turn my volumes up all over the place, donāt fully understand compression, and struggle with discerning āloudā from quality.
So recently I went through 6 banks and turned the amp volume, synth/sample vol, and track volumes back to 80. I quickly realized this was way to low, especially with the RYTM effects.
So I went back through and for most pads raised the synth/sample and amp volumes to 100, (where function+ snaps them too), leaving track volumes at 80, raising some here and there.
I dialed in ālighterā comp setting and used the makeup gain to get the volume I want going to the OT.
Things have actually started to sound better, however now I want a prominent washed out reverb on a single hit, and itās barely audible.
Iām so confused by RYTMs effects volumes.
Can someone break it all down for me?
What volumes affect what?
Iāve scoured the forums for answers and still have not found an elaborate yet simple answer.
Iāve done tons of work on a current project and itās definitely sounding much better, still though, I cant stand how low the effects are, especially when compared to the A4.
Digging up an old thread - Iāve recently bought the MK2 after being without an AR for a long time. The amp volume feeds the effects sends - that makes sense, but the track volume seems to be pre-amp, and if you drop it, you need to re-up those sends.
The manual has a signal path diagram, but doesnāt indicate where the track volume is on that path - is it the mixer section? (which would be post effects sends, and it certainly doesnāt sound so.)
