Configuration question

I asked about this before, but cannot find the thread and my setup has changed since asking.

My current configuration is centered around the Monomachine as the hub, sending clock and transport to the MD, as well as using the midi sequencer to sequence other synths. I have a midi controller that I use set to the MNM autochannel, so all I have to do is select the channel and play via the controller. All routing is done via a Unitor 8 midi patchbay.

I would like to make the OT the hub, and use the auto channel of both machines to use the keyboard, depending on whatever machine I have selected. It was suggested that I use a channel of the OT set to the autochannel of the MNM. Would I still be able to use the Mono’s midi sequencer to sequence some things, or would all of my sequencing need to go through the OT?

the Midi Out of the MM can always send its messages.
so you can just have more MIDI sequenceable tracks (MM+OT)

My configuration has OT > MidiThru > Elektrons (MM+A4+MD) and the midi out of MM and MD go to the midi interface where I make the routings for other gear

the best way maybe is to set midi track 8 on the OT to say midi chanal 16 then set up the MnM auto channel to 16. So when you pick track 8 on the OT you can control any selected MnM track with your keyboard.

So I’ve experimented with this a bit. Here’s the current configuration, set up as suggested:
Novation X-Station out to OT in. OT out to the patchbay, and thru to Mono in. Mono out to the patchbay, and thru to the MD in. Patchbay sends out to other synths.

I’ve only poked around with it a bit (only had the OT two days), but it’s definitely not working. The mono starts freezing the moment the sequencer is started.

Is there no way to change the Monomachine’s autochannel without changing the base channel? In trying to set the auto channel to 16 for both machines, I have to change the Mono base channel to 8, which seems to cause problems. Setting autochannel to 9 on both units allows me to play the Mono through the OT via keyboard, but triggers the Mono regardless of the channel I am on on the OT. I’m also finding that certain notes seem to start the sequencer…
