I may consider it on the next sale but I’m not yet sure. Game is an RPG involved around, well, hunting monsters. Not yet sure if RPGs are my thing and how replayable it is.
I barely even look at stats besides making my weapon hit harder.
It’s a very much a smooth action game more than a traditional RPG, but there’s plenty of stat tracking for those that care too.
Replayability is pretty core to the series though.
Yeah. Stats I’m not too big on, I prefer a bit of skill expression. I hope it remains replayable (and if it doesn’t, Capcom iterates from this game’s character customization - it’s been one thing I’ve heard they’re criticized for with previous Monster Hunter games).
Elden Ring really is excellent too. But if you’re not into the setting I get it.
And that while that one is very skill based like Monster Hunter, you’ll likely have to pay a lot more attention to the RPG numbers side of things.
Gamescom opening was kind of a bummer
why?
Almost no interesting new games. And way too much stuff that was already announced.
Call of Duty 756 to start the show off tells a story. Just sequels over sequels. But nevertheless a few good games might be in there.
Ninja Gaiden 4
Ghost of Yotei
Silksong
Resident Evil requiem…lets see
But where are the Claire Obscures, Baldurs Gate 3s. Nintendo of course did not announce anything special. Where is Metroid Prime 4? Oblivion Remaster for Switch2? Where is the next Indie Hit?
Death Stranding 1 & 2 are great, really weird AAA games where the weirdness isn’t just slapped on top of an otherwise basic open world game, but is inherent to the whole experience. First one was harder and in a way more rewarding experience, but also flawed in execution and pacing. Second one is extremely polished, so much so that it’s quite easy and lacks the visceral spikes in difficulty the first one had, which added excitement to the experience.
Still, both are masterpieces among video games and I can’t think of many that are on the same level of both concept and execution. Baldur’s Gate 3? Elden Ring? Those two probably, but there’s not many.
I’m not sure where to go from here, Vampire Bloodlines 2 is intriquing but has the potential to be a disaster. Otherwise it’s all remakes or just games that don’t feel interesting, just more of the same.
Indeed, where is Prime 4.
Given Nintendos habit of just random shadow Directs lately, a Prime 4 Direct could literally be announced any second now.
There was some rumours of some setbacks recently, but also think they hold out for things like Gamescom to see how the rest of the year looks from a calendar perspective.
It was surprising to see Air Riders get a release date first, I could only assume Prime comes before that.
Still, it’s gonna be interesting to see how they tackle the release marketing for Prime 4, feels like they have something big / different planed.
I feel like between that and Silksong, they’re the last of a previous generation of titles folks have been waiting for for a long time.
Only other thing next is probably Elder Scrolls 6, but I dunno, Starfield didnt really give me much hope for it.
Starfield left me cold and I cannot understand why they still use this old crappy engine where you literally become afraid of the faces.
Prime 4 and Silksong are also my most wanted. But Nintendo somehow is not at a good spot in my opinion. Bananza is cool but still no new Mario. Instead they push Air Riders as they already launched with Mario Kart World.
And by the way, where is Elden Ring for Switch 2?
Sadly not much interesting stuff seems to be at Gamescom. Chronos has an interesting vibe. Hope it doesn‘t suck. But I have hopes for the Returnal Sequel.
Remasters would be fine also, but non. No Chrono Trigger, no Resident Evil 1…
Yeah Death Stranding 2 is on the Pile. First one lost me after 20+ hours because of the gameplay mechanics. Still great. But there is a clunkyness thats just not right somehow. Walking sideways because of a way too big pile of packages on your shoulders just isn‘t fun and it looks stupid.
Have you played Control?
I actually got a steam refund after a couple hours, very rare for me. Really boring and sterile, considering its fallout/elder scrolls dna
I have been there last year especially for retro and Indie games. The aerea for Indie existed but the companies were cramped in tiny spaces and interested people couldnt really see much or try things out… I left a bit disapointed. Indie games should be features more prominently.
Yeah, brilliant game! MAYBE a bit repetitive towards the end, which is why I don’t consider it quite as special as the others I mentioned. Still, great great game and one of my favourites. We really need more 3D metroidvanias with visionary architecture like in Control. I’m a big architecture buff, and that’s probably the only game that really makes you marvel at the enviroment much like a visionary building does in real life.
Part 2 has fixed a lot of the awkwardness, it’s still the same idea but it plays a lot slicker. Which makes it a lot easier, sadly, but I guess people like the slickness more. I kind of do myself, but it lacks the unforgiving nature of the first game, where right up until the end you had to be mindful of the enviroment or you might trip over.
As a fan of Souls games, just started playing the new game Wuchang Fallen Feathers
So far a fun game almost like Chinese version of Dark Souls. Not bad but I do enjoy Black Wukong Myth game better. between the two Chinese mythos souls games.
Wuchang seems super interesting but I’m waiting on sale prices.
Think it’s doable with no HUD elements?
yeah I am playing it for free on XBox Game Pass right now that came with a free subscription for my new gaming rig. Between Wuchang and Black Myth Wukong, Wukong is the far superior game.
