Analog Four its a really tempting option yes, but probably I prefer the knob per function and cuteness of cables in modular, just saying.

A4 compliments the AR best in terms of size and similar operation. I’d just feel too much like the average-joe-DJ-guy having the same setup as thousands of others. that said, heard a lot of bombastic live acts with elektron gear only. just buy what ur heart tells you

Id take the intellijel Stuff. i just think modulars are way more fun and awesome sounding. I Think the metropolis can be a little difficult to get your hands on though. But many other great options in euroland. I have two orbitals in the drawer waiting to be built.

what sequencer would you recommend me as a newbie in modular, or even what voice will you? why the metropolis is hard?
How do you see a modular system for live perfomances? Is it hard to get it going and interesting? I like to do from drone ambient acid music to dark minimal techno… anyways u get the point.

I say go modular, sample it being all modulated and fun and play the samples in your AR.
It isn’t impossible to use a modular live but you better REALLY know your modules to be able to patch consistently and quickly. Also you need a way to keep the modular and AR in sync, there are ways for sure, but just letting you know.

I am really loving the Nord A1. It has a very '70s vibe to it, but the oscillator section also offers a lot of cool digital sounding stuff, and the effects are really good. I have been continuously blown away by it since I got it.

My setup is the AR, Tempest, Blofeld, and Nord A1. I almost think I could do without the Blofeld, the Nord is quite a bit more flexible than I expected. Between the Nord’s FM and the gritty VS waves on the Tempest, the Blofeld just feels redundant. (though it’s an amazing synth in it’s own right.)

Also had a Sledge briefly and I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest it to anyone. It’s pretty awesome.

There’s are many awesome euro sequencers, Its really about What you want from it. Go to modular grid to get an idea about What options are available, Way better than me recommending What i like. The metropolis is difficult to get because its really popular and likely to be sold out. Not saying you can’t get one, just that it’s not sure if you can get it tomorrow or next week. It looks nice though. For a voice… There are almost endless options, the Atlantis you mentioned looks like a great starting point. But it’s all about what you want. I suggest spending a good deal of time on muffwiggler and you tube to research modules.
About the live thing I would also suggest checking some performances on you tube. If its it hard to get going and interesting I think will be totally up to your wiggling skills and your module selection.

It’s looks like a fun setup. I think you can make shitloads of awesome sounds with that. That being said I think there’s still a couple of things to consider.

I don’t see how you would use the stereo mixer, and the Atlantis has a built in vca so maybe you don’t need the other one.

Another thing I would consider though is if you really need a sequencer when you have the midi interface. In such a small system you could get a lot of awesome stuff instead of a 600$ sequencer. Like wave folders, filters, delay, sampling another osc etc.

also consider other midi options. Maybe you don’t need all the stuff that yarns is probably capable of (I haven’t checked it out) it’s probably awesome, but also quite expensive. I use a Kenton that does a lot of stuff as well but I’ve never used it for anything but trigger and cv, and I just hate the menu diving. I’m likely to sell it for something more simple and less expensive

The last couple of weeks I’ve been enjoying using the Minibrute with Rytm. I’ve got it hooked up to the OT so I can sequence it but I imagine the Arturia Beatstep could be a good, affordable companion. You definitely need to hook it up to a delay or reverb (or both) to give additional options for developing parts.

Is anyone considering pairing the Sub 37 with the AR when it eventually comes out? I’m thinking of either that or a 2nd hand A4 and Minitaur instead.

What I’m wondering about the Sub 37 is would it be low end overkill paired with the AR? Anyone been using the Sub Phatty with AR that can comment?

I’m wanting a sub37, I got the AR for drum duties not bass duties.

That being said, I currently already have an A4 and a minitaur running through A4 effects.

So my setup is minitaur into a4, a4 and ar into OT …and I still want a sub 37

Ya I was thinking about trading up from the SubPhatty to the Sub37 - it has a lot of desirable functionality lacking in the SubPhatty. But on the other hand, an A4 and Minitaur are so much more portable, and you still have the same high-end filters, oscillators - would be great to have one set up for studio, one for the road. checks wallet sigh

I’m a big fan of the intellijel modules too! The Rubicon and Metropolis are high on my wish-list. And the micro scale.

My AR arrives today (fingers crossed) - if the SubPhatty low-end is too much with the AR, I would use the low-cut on the SubPhatty (@75Hz) mixer channel. Generally speaking, I don’t mind high-passing analog synths - you still retain a lot of the lower harmonic content, and achieve some clarity/separation.

no doubt a4/minitaur for portability…minitaur is a monster bass machine in a small package

I do most stuff in the studio, sub37 has some modular type qualities to it with all the available routing (or so I read)

for what it’s worth the AR can kick out some mean deep bass, but for me…it’s a drum machine

I just wish something would sell me on the sound of the Sub p/37, 95% of the demos don’t impress me at all and give me the idea that it has limited sound palette. I know this most likely isn’t true and I’m not yet using it to base my opinion on cos generally I’m rarely sold by synth demos anyway.

Ive have EXpanded the thing a bit more thinking in terms of Live playability, actually consider what u told me, have 2 sequencers and 2 voices going on. due that I think for Live play will probably help having more sequences and tones ready maybe… I hope those 2 sequencers dont overlap too much.
That sub37 its an awesome option also, it sounds divine

Its alot of sequencing for such a small setup. Would love to have the rene. Remember you can multiply the seq outs and clock divide/multiply Them.
