Compact drum machine recommendations

Why arent we recommending more sound modules?
This person has 12 tracks of MIDI sequencing available for the likes of a Nord Drum 2 or a Roland TM-2 or two, or a Jomox Mbase an Mbrane.

or … a little "editable " Eurorack drum machine… tiptop, intellijel plonk, Jomox, MFB etc …

You already have midi on the digitakt so why not just a drum module ?

This one is cool and low cost: https://www.audiothingies.com/product/doubledrummer/

Menu diving is kept at a minimum.

I like the kick and snare separate so I can feed them into pedals and fx. It’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t have separate outs. I currently use the digitakt for drums and a few choice samples and it’s a small limitation not being able to process the drums separately. Maybe I do need a second DT for drums only…

Interesting. I have a minimonsta and it’s great. Unfortunately there aren’t many good demo videos I can find.

Fair point!

TR-09? Small, cheap, tweakable, and a fun sequencer.

Can the cable be used with electribe 2, which also has 1-midi channel per sound?

Check Retrokits website - they seem to expand what it can do & with what fairly regularly

Yes, why not, its just a simple microcontroller that has a flash-able firmware, built inside a MIDI cable. It just splits a certain note range to different MIDI channels. IIRC the cable is called retrokits RK002 or something like that…

Nord drum 2. Its 6 channels could be sequenced from the 6 midi tracks of your Digitakt.

Very versatile sounds. Can go from 909, to fm drums to distorted harder sounds.

Any other new ideas on this?

Ideally something that just takes 1 channel.

Boss DR-660 / 770.

Volca drum, it can do anything; drums, metallic noises, crazy percussions, even melodies and chords. Does not include fx but as you already own digitakt you can sample individual part loops and then process it further in digitakt.

Machinedrum! It has everything you are looking for.

Not very compact, though!
