Clipping on OT

I have a new issue now. When i playback samples even with the ones it came with. Inget terrible clipping but when panned left or right
They sound normal. I never had that problem.
I turn it down it dosent work. I’ve tried everything i can think of to avail… it was fine all day till the evening and this started happening along with no a fx on thru machine.
Which that i solved. I dont want to pan track to hear them clear that dosent work for me. I never had to do that. Any ideas cause im out of them.

There are many settings which influences the gain.

  • track volume (LEVEL knob)
  • master volume ([FUNC] + LEVEL)
  • attribute settings of the sample (Audio Editor -> Attribute)
  • AMP settings
  • mixer settings (when using direct in)
  • LFOs targetting level/gain parameters
  • scenes can also plock some of level/gain parameters (just visible when you hold SceneA/SceneB button

… and a few more.

Your post is somewhat confusing. First you write about playback of “preset” samples, then you mention a thru machine. That’s 2 completely different things.

When the inputs clip, lower the signal running into them.

Yeah, cause initially i thought it was just a thru machine issue with my synths. But no… even when i audition a sample for a static machine it happens.
Im starting to think it’s a hardware issue. As its not just the degredation of the samples but audio as well and the panning issues among a few other things. The issues come and go . Also the fx work and then they don’t…I’ve had it for 2 months so im not the most knowledgeable about it. But that dosent seem right to me.
I thought maybe a setting i changed was the culprit. I’ll see what happens tomorrow.

Real hardware issues are rare. As always in such unclear circumstances just make a new project and try it there without changing much. The default settings of a new project should take care of all possible pitfalls.

Are you seeing the same behaviour through main outputs and through headphones?

Yes i am wether i use headphones or monitors. I deleted all files and did a reset this morning so i will see if that helps.

What i did today with a reset and deletion seemed to have worked… as always thank you guys.

Good stuff. Glad it’s sorted. Not uncommon to get a bit stumped by octatrack setting
