Hello. A beard hair of mine has gotten under the glass of my DN screen somehow. And we all know what beard hairs look like out of context haha. So, is it possible to get at the screen easily? Do I need to lift the glass somehow? Or take the top plate off? Any advice much appreciated as always.

That’s just your Digitone going through puberty. Happens about 3 or 4 years into its adolescence.

You’re not fooling anybody with that story, obviously a pube hair under the screen! We all love the Digitone here, some especially so, better to just be honest.

Having a beard hair on my youtube vids is the worst thing that could happen! About the Digitone: just unscrew it until you can access the screen. The actual display and the protective glass are two seperate parts.

I had an eyelash trapped under my Rytm screen. I never got it out and took a hit when I finally sold it. Hopefully you figure it out.

you need to disassemble the device:
- lift all knobs, preferably using a plastic or wooden tool (to not scratch the surface)
- unscrew the upper part and take it off.
- unplug the two ribbon cables carefully
- place the front plate with the display upside down on a cloth or something soft
- unscrew the PCB ( the plastic thing with the electronic components)
- blow the hair away, preferably with compressed air from a can , do not blow with your mouth
- remount everything
you need a clean and dust free environment to do this, and preferably some experience with electronics.
if possible wear a grounding bracelet to not damage the electronics with static discharges. (available on ifixit where you can also buy plastic tools)
