I’m not that good in reproducing sounds.
I purchased Justin Valers MD 808/909 sysex for my MD.
But as i’ve sold it i’d like to get these sounds for the AR, too.
Anyone? If necessary i’d of course support your effort.
(And yeah i know the AR is capable of so much more but i don’t want to spend money on a tr-8)
ATM I feel it would be necessary to use samples for a good approximation (even for some of the sounds that are not samples on the og 909). I’m going to do all the TR kits for my Rytm but am in no hurry to get them done… Only made a TR-707 kit so far, which actually turned out real nice!
I think a good way to go about it would be to load a “target” sample to a spare slot for reference while tweaking each sound, aiming for as close a match in sound/tone as possible?
I have a feeling someone will be coming out with AR content libs that cater exactly to this. Might have to wait a while tho…
No, it’s just public domain 707 samples from a user called Shy (on gearslutz), mapped to the pads with certain modulation etc settings to give a bit of feel to them. Layered some synth kick under the 707 kick sample to get more oomph to it… which can of course be muted for more authenticity… I’ll try to send it tonight.
I’m currently loading up a bunch of Goldbaby vinyl samples to the AR. He has a pack called Vinyl Drums or something with a bunch of machines; 808, 909, 606, 626, CR78, LM1, Linn, etc. Basically just going through the lists and finding what I want and loading them up.
Obviously, he has a bunch more sample kits, but this is what I am using.
just get gold baby samples and load them in. they have decent ones for all the TR stuff. Also they have ones that are samples loaded into a SPL 1200 for that “sound”.

if i go the sample way, which one works better:
Tape808 or Superanalog808?[/quote]
Just listen too em mate. The difference is probably in the processing. I have the tape ones and I’d say they sound better than a dry x0x… The gear they use to process is top drawer.

Pardon me for asking a dumb question.
What are the AR samples? Specs, extensions?
Going to be sampling the hell out of my drum machines.
Happy to help out a little. Will be a while before I own an AR. Once I have one I know I’ll want them all.

PCM WAV, guessing the samples are handled internally at 16/48 ? However, other PCM bitrate samples work as well, the manual said something about the AR automagically converting rates. One sample per pad ATM, although one can switch a sample to another on the fly (with an LFO for ex, allowing pseudo-round-robin).

From the FAQ:
The Analog Rytm uses 16 bit/48kHz/mono samples. Samples with other bit depths and sample rates are possible to use, but will be internally converted to 16 bit/48kHz.
