Yeah masking one sequence running different divisions or lengths with another is probably the easiest way to get something like this happening maybe a little less easy to parcel out what is going to happen in pass number 8 or whatever… but the big advantage is you can just mute the masking track or play with multiple mask tracks.
Making a fuss lol. It’s just an earnest feature request after spending 2k on the bugger.
haha OK… umm how about “enthusiastically discussing?”
it’s a fair request. though it likely will never have this exact feature. it will probably be achievable some day, in some way (other than direct programming). but it will be the Cirklon way of doing it, not the Elektron way. just like parameter locks.
It’s actually worth mentioning that last time there was something really bugging me about how the Cirklon operates, I made a fuss cough: earnest feature request on the forum to ask if there was anything that could be done about it and a few months later Colin had fixed it when he added a new user config option for “freewheel after MIDI STOP”.
I had the same request on the OXI forum for the OxiOne and was told it wouldn’t happen. Too busy chasing bugs I imagine.
I can’t imagine I’d even get a response from Elektron and their devices behave in the same annoying way.
he does indeed implement user requests sometimes. it took years, but he did eventually do per-row muting in CK patterns. I don’t love how it’s implemented, but it’s there, and it is useful.
Today, out of the blue, i got an e-mail that I am on top of the list.
Dont think it makes sense for me though being mostly software based….
I am intrigued by these aux events and the intertrack interactions. But is it worth 2k? Probably not
Any people here using it mostly ITB?
Decisions decisions
I’m using a Cirklon for ITB (occasionally but not always with hardware too), and it works great for how I like to work. For ITB use, I’ll set up a handful of Ableton Live “instruments” using a mix of FTS (force to scale) and non-FTS instrument definitions - FTS for melodic tracks and non-FTS for percussion tracks, and I have an Ableton Live Cirklon template to match. The template has a predefined set of instruments, channels, sends, etc. So basically I fire up Live, load the template, turn on the Cirklon, and I’m off to the races. Then I can focus on building the structure in the Cirklon without having to fiddle with the computer, then I can go back and do the sound design part, change instruments, whatever. Awesome. There may be a better/easier way to do this, but this works well for me.
Cool, thanks for the reply! Sounds like a fun workflow. I am going to do some more research into the Cirklon. I’ve done that two years ago, but have forgotten most and also got rid of almost all of my hardware in the meanwhile…
How do you handle the sync between the two? Is ableton the master clock?
I typically use the Cirklon as master clock, and it works nicely. I’ve seen reports of folks having timing issues with Live (can’t recall off the top of my head if this was Cirklon related or some other external sequencer) and have used something like an ERM Multiclock to fix it, but I haven’t had to resort to this.
I decided to take the plunge and will report back here!
Hi
Would it be possible if u could show us a couple of screen shot of how u have it set up in Ableton session view etc as I’m looking to do the same thing
Thanks
How’s it going with the Cirklon?
Well, I really love it… but unfortunately, I have put it up for sale (still on this forum also)
That has more to do with my financial situation than anything else though.
It’s an absolute joy to use and I think I have only discovered 5% of what it can do at most…
If nobody comes for it, I am happy to keep using it. I have got some other things up for sale as well (non music related), so if that sells first I am most happy to keep the Cirklon around
