Because it’s basically a hack of the pitch parameter and not true “notes”.

You should define ‘weird’ as there’s a lot to misinterpret on the OT - might not be a weird as you think
With timestretch off it’s a classic chromatic pitched sample . But only +/- 1 octave from original pitch

If two octaves feels limiting, one work around that I use sometimes is to have a bunch of c notes at different octaves and of different instruments in a sample chain. So I load it and slice it into 64 slices and I have 4 octave transpose over several instruments.
