Chromatic mode on one track, and slots mode on another?

I’m using a midi sequencer sending sequences to 2 octatrack channels at the same time, I’m trying to play notes on track 7 of the OT and im trying to trigger slots on track 5.

I can trigger notes on track 7 when im in “tracks mode” and I can control slots on track 5 when im in “slots mode” but I’m unable to do both at the same time.

If theres no way to set up each track to its own mode, is it possible for me to control slots with specific CC numbers?

(i’m aware this is kinda superfolous because the OT is a great sequencer but im expirimenting with a different way to play it on the fly)

I think you might want to look up at Proj > Midi > Control > Audio Note In and set it to map/track since you said you are controlling externally. Once you have done so and out of the menu to the track view/screen, you can hold MIDI and then arrow UP or DOWN which will pop up the Midi Map Menu for the currently selected track.
From there you can switch between tracks and set accordingly to your needs for each of 'em.
