Looking to backup and update the OS on my Machinedrum, but none of my MIDI/USB gear supports sysex. What’s the absolute cheapest way to backup and update over sysex with my Mac and Machinedrum?
On a side note: Bizarre that a MIDI interface wouldn’t support Sysex - that’s part of MIDI standard, isn’t it?
The only gear I have with both USB and MIDI is my Keystep, and Arturia’s MIDI implementations are pretty spotty.
I was thinking about trading my Focusrite Scarlet for one with MIDI I/O but those don’t seem to support Sysex either. Seems way more common than it should be.
ok, that’s certainly worth keeping in mind - I never even considered that a MIDI interface might in fact NOT transmit Sysex. Anyway, the M-Audio does cope with Sysex, and it is pretty cheap, not sure if it’s the cheapest
