First +/-15min. with (2nd) Lossy…
2 loops(beats/melody) recorded separately, both processed by Lossy only.
(just twisting some knobs & flicking some switches…no clue what I was doing )
Damn I want one…going to get a moogerfooger fixed, sell it, then purchase. Ironically I don’t really want it for the faux-lossy emulation stuff but purely as an eccentric sound design processor.
lol, how are you already on your second lossy? This thing has been out for like a week?
I got the 1st one last thursday, but it didn’t arrive like it should be.
It might have worked perfectly, but I didn’t even try it, so…?
I reported it to Chase Bliss and they instantly send me a new one and I got it yesterday.
So, kudos to Chase Bliss for the great service!
I’ve started recording some of my ambient experiments with the Mood MKII as a series.
These are a little intimate for me.
Playing a synth through this little purple pedal gets me in a nice headspace.
So on Lossy I was trying to wrap my head around using the bounce setting, am I correct in that it takes over the global knobs function as a speed control for the bounce? and this would mean that the global setting just stays where you set it before engaging the bounce setting? *rereading the manual a few times I found what I glossed over if you hold the left foot switch you can adjust global while bounce is on.
I feel like Lossy fills a need that isn’t urgent for me where my setup is now, I’m more inclined to use my S2400 or S3000XL if I want to go for nostalgic flavours - although different era and use case, so possibly will be one for the future for me. Or maybe the plugin and a Data Bender.
Mainly posting to give a shout out to the Habit which I’ve had more or less since launch and keeps on surprising and delighting. For me, it’s the perfect tool for those days when you’re running on empty and don’t have the energy to sit down and write or do detailed production work - I like just feeding my Habit (pun intended) with source material for a couple of minutes whether samples, guitar, synths, modular, in collect mode and letting it run for half an hour or so to see what its response is. One of my favourite devices.
Just ordered a Mood II after a lot of trying and failing to reproduce what it does in software - hoping that like the habit while the individual elements aren’t necessarily that complicated the genius is in the sum of those parts.
People who’ve played with it, does the Lossy pedal introduce latency like the Gen loss mk2 does? The plugin is incredible but I’m really missing the hands-on aspect.
I haven’t measured it, but I’ve been playing guitar through it a whole bunch and didn’t notice any latency.
with this awesome Goodhertz collab, do we think there is room for more collabs on their plug ins?
I really like Tupe and Vulf Comp
It has a little amount of latency, but it hasn’t bothered me yet.
There’s this(from the manual), but I haven’t tried the setting yet:
ALL WET
A special mode designed specifically for the pedal and the needs of live musicians. In standard operation, Lossy uses a digital dry signal that adds a very small amount of latency. This will be just fine for most situations, but ALL WET allows you to switch over to true analog dry thru if you prefer. In this mode the reverb is always set to 100% wet, and the VERB knob becomes the analog mix control.
So nice!!!
Question to CB users. Are you using pedals like Generation Loss, Mood & Lossy on non ambient/cinematic tracks?
I find the pedals to be very appealing, but I’m at the same time worried the mentioned pedals will not really gel with my productions.
For example how does Mood pair with an acid bass line?
Lossy and Generation Loss I can see on my drum or master bus at times, but I think that use case alone might not be worth it as I have tape decks and other degradation tools.
Happy to hear your thoughts on this
You can dial in “normal” delays and reverbs with Mood. It has a nice character, particularly towards the lo-bitrate/slow end of the Time dial. You can’t tempo sync Mood mki; maybe mkii? So it’s fun if you’re willing to work with it, but not good as a set&forget tool. it’s very difficult to sync the looper side to an existing tempo. It’s better for wonky timing, or trying to smudge out rhythms into textures. I think it’s brilliant for generating quirky attention-catching stuff you’d struggle to make elsewhere, but it’s not ideal if you want “a normal delay with a bit of character”.
Gen Loss is a gorgeous saturator, tone control and “wobbler”. Wonderful on strings/pads. Fucks drums up. And I like it on arps. The latency makes it leas useful for strictly timed bus/mix colouration, but it’d still make a good non-realtime sound design tool.
For ‘exciting’ or dramatic/fun rather than ambient stuff on acid and lead lines etc, the ‘Env’ mode of the looper (think interruptible loops/micro-loops based on a threshold triggered by the input) and ‘Slip’ mode of the fx side (think lo-fi harmonisations) can get very weird, fun and not at all ambient.
I’ve started playing more with the slip mode on the wet side and it is pretty active and enjoyable. It’s easy enough to let it auto sample and chatter back at you an octave up or down, backwards or forwards.
I’ve been thinking to maybe run the T-8 through it. You might have a great idea there!
Yes yes yes.
Mood II can be synced via midi clock. You just need a Midi TRS cable and a 3.5 > 6.35 adapter
I just purchased a Digitone a few months ago and am having a great time with this magical music maker. What chase bliss pedal do you recommend for live jamming, running the master outputs into the chase bliss pedal and turning knobs like a mad man? I had a mood I years ago and loved it but the new habit and lossy pedal look cool. Thanks for any insights!
