Nice! My MOOD should arrive tomorrow in Berlin.
also got 6 spare knobs from the original mood OG (white on grey). You think it would look nice on the LE Mood MK2? might give it a try
Has anyone noticed if their Mood mk2 gets (very) warm (I’d say hot) when plugged into a power supply (specifically the Strymon Zuma R300 in my case)? I have several other digital pedals, including CBA, and the Mood mk2 is the only one that gets significantly hot. Even the knobs and switches become very warm to the touch. I live in Germany, so I don’t believe this is a weather-related issue. I’m wondering if this is normal behavior, it’s quite inconvenient because I prefer not having to unplug my pedalboard constantly. I have a feeling that it’s probably not healthy for a pedal to remain constantly hot like this though.
Please share a pic in case you try it
Great I didn’t jump on it, Gen Loss doesn’t look that appealing to me on your pic. I weirdly like Mood a lot more than on CBA‘s website.
I grabbed a LE Mood MKII in the EU this morning. My eyes are making it hard too hard to see small type-faces or anything on pedals with low contrast, so the big selling point of the limited edition is black text against a predominantly white background.
I also went ahead and grabbed a few extra knobs to try and make it easier for me to glance at my RKM Tonal Recall and remember which knobs are which.
Getting old is awesome
Best to ask this to support, that’s what they are there for.
Oh, I missed that there was also a limited edition Generation Loss Mk.II.
That looks nicer than the standard version - though my preference would still be the dark blue limited edition.
That just seems to be how things are on Reverb.
I see a lot of pedals which are current products - not limited edition, and in-stock at retailers - being sold a good 10–20% above MSRP.
I don’t get it.
Hi, I’ve got my Mood MKII recently. I power it with a CIOKS DC7 and it only gets a little bit warm, far away from being “hot”.
Did you check the voltage of your PSU? EDIT: Your Strymon Zuma R300 goes up to 18 V. That could be a cause for the heat.
Hey! Thanks for checking. Yes, the Zuma can go up to 18v, but only if you select it, which I didn’t (just checked, the 9-12-18v port is not even connected). I’ll wait what support says about it…
Yeah, I did as well! Thx for the heads up.
I don’t think it’s healthy for the pedal, the planet, or your wallet to be wasting electricity like that. how often do you play, and in how long of intervals, that you’re powering the whole pedalboard up/down “constantly?”
Yeah, that’s the reason I am not comfortable with the pedal wasting energy for no reason. It’s not good for the planet and definitely not for my wallet. However, I have never expected a significant amount of electricity consumption from my pedalboard when the pedals are not engaged. By the way, my pedalboard consists of 4 compact pedals (and no larger Strymon pedals or similar).
The frequency and duration of my working on the studio varies a lot, ranging from a couple of times a day to many hours a day. If I were to play for half an hour once a day, it wouldn’t be an issue. By the way, your message came across as a bit condescending.
sorry! I actually meant it to be inquisitive. and really, I am just trying to help.
the “it’s so difficult/annoying to power off my gear” questions do always puzzle me though… unless you’ve got a studio you power up in the morning and off at night, because you need to have access to any and all gear at any time, I just don’t understand it. and by the way, such studios typically have full time techs to service their gear that can and does break from being used in such a manner.
anyway, this is off-topic, I guess… the pedal probably shouldn’t get uncomfortably hot. I’d contact CB. but I’d also try to get in the habit of powering up and down the pedalboard as needed. make it as easy as flipping a switch, if you need to.
BTW: I find it a little bit difficult to get nice results apart from strange ambient sounds.
Could you share with what synth inputs (note length, arps etc.) and what Micro Looper settings you’ ve got your sweet spots?
I find the new sync feature to be a big improvement in getting things that aren’t specifically ambient. Combined with the new fade and overdub for the micro loop, you can dial in some interesting sync’d delays.
I’m not talking midi sync - You can sync the micro loop to a multiplier of the delay time, or the delay time as a division of the micro loop. This tightens up a lot of options.
In the Music are there other nice results apart from strange ambient sounds?
hey, that’s a hidden CB product promotion !
My current favs of the new features-
Fade at about 11:00 o’clock with overdub latched on stretch and the clock being modified with a random LFO using ramping along with slip engaged on the left. Sending an electric piano type sound from the digitone through it sounds amazing for a fading sound on sound type loop with the pitch being modified by clock and the slip mode jumping around. I had been eyeballing a cosmos for a while as I loved the mood mk1 but wanted more. The MK2 just delivers everything I could think of adding to the original.
China is currently building more coal fired power plants than currently exist in operation in the world today. Go protest outside your local PRC embassy or Exxon Mobil regional office and allow poor Oitnu to leave his tiny guitar pedal on as long as he wants to, FFS.
