OK, leaning towards the cosmos, probably makes for a decent pairing with the Lyra, cheers!
hi! question about mook MKII
- when I enable the spread mode and use the delay (wet channel), i don’t hear a ping pong effect, unless i pan the incoming sound source left or right.
is this normal behaviour? because i have the feeling the panning is not required for the other wet fx and the looper channel on the mood (more clear pingponging audible when spread enabled).
no one ;)?
Did you set the width to full in the hidden options (time knob)?
Also engaged spread for both channels via the routing toggle?
if you mean the spread dip switch: yes its enabled
and the hidden options are at default (width maxed out)
I do hear ping ponging with the other wet channels, just not so clear with the delay, unless I pan the incoming sound. This might be intended, thats what I believe from reading the manual, just don’t understand why they do not include/enable a ‘standard’ ping pong delay
curious! is it a stereo source you’re feeding it?
will test myself this evening as I’ve moved on to working with MOOD and Digitone.
yes, was sending op-1 field through it via TRS cable
It’s so nice to find a new Knobs video in my YouTube feed.
Unsurprisingly, his video of the Mood MKII shows some of the best examples of why the upgrade is worth it. My personal experience with this pedal is similar to my experience with Ribbons- it sounds amazing, it’s packed with awesome and usable features, and it has bit of a learning curve (requires muscle memory) to fully grasp its navigation. Luckily, time is proving to me that this pedal can be intuitive.
I ordered mine three days ago, after asking refund for a mkI B-stock, which is now quite cheap (€245).
It was quite a compulsory evening, ordered mkI then after 2 hours staring and listening to mkII videos, I changed my mind and asked to get the new version.
Still waiting hungry for it to arrive at my place. But I feel I did the right thing (even because you get the mkI sound too if needed, if Classic mode engaged…slurp)
Also unclear on this behaviour. Reminds me a little of ping-pong delay on the Octatrack, only becoming clear when shifting balance left or right. Hm. More research required.
In the meantime, and will share sounds shortly, but hope you’re all having as good a time with this as I am. Albums and albums pouring out of this plus Digitone right now. In a glitchy era, I find syncing the micro-loop to the fx side lends itself well to odd rhythmic material.
As far as I understand, it doesn’t sum the stereo input to mono and ping pongs the delayed signal, but whatever you feed into the left channel will be delayed to the right channel and vice versa.
I’m looking forward to also test this later today. I just received a notification that my mood mkll was just delivered (but I’m still stuck at work). Can’t wait to get home and play with it!
Edit: It’s lots of fun! Even though I watched a lot of tutorials before i got it, i didn’t know what the heck I was doing for the first hour playing with it. But once it clicks, it’s pretty hard to stop bouncing loops back and forward.
Curious about this use case. Can you share more about this?
I’m hoping I have a similar moment of enlightenment with MOOD 2 (whenever I get a chance to fire it up).
it’s tricky to verbalise or even break down this application for my own understanding but by setting sync in this direction you’ll get, for example, delay time and micro-loop length in sync rather than both running free. A change in delay time comes with an associated change in micro-loop length giving way to ‘tighter’ rhythmic loops…again, sorry, hard to word! It’s offered as a suggestion in the manual next to that corresponding hidden option. I want to try syncing the other way around too!
I fired mood 2 up last night for the first time. Running from a tc helicon voice box into the mood and then straight into the DT. Not read the Manual yet but I’m getting some beautiful harmonic reverbs / delays. Tip of the iceberg. Got a midibox in the post but as stated earlier in the thread loose timing is also sounding v nice.
Mine arrived today yummy!
BTW what’s the usb port for? Cannot find any info around
Firmware updates.
Had to send my mkI off for repair recently. Was under warrantee. CBA covered UPS both ways UK-USA. UPS sorted out all the customs faff. Two to three weeks’ turnaround. Very easy.
Everything that bothered me is fixed, including seemingly more input headroom and a clunk when switching in/out of 100% wet which I hadn’t reported to them. The pedal is so much nicer now it works properly (and I was fond of it before anyway).
Awesome!
Im warming up to Mood.
It’s been a bumpy ride, not gonna lie.
It kind of sent me on a musical existential crisis of sorts, not knowing what I want to do or what to do with it.
My favorite settings though has been delay + tape in smooth mode. Setting clock at noon and tape modify at noon. It just sounds lovely feeding it somber synth lines from Perfourmer.
Could anyone let me know how the sound quality of the effects on the Mood II compare to the Blooper? I have the later and am using it mostly as short loop and effect device near the end of my chain…I’m intrigued by the Mood though I’m not sure it would add anything beyond what I doing with the Blooper especially if the FX are identical.
On a related note - those of you with both, how do you use them together.
Fwiw - Here are a couple of clips of me using the Blooper at the end of my pedal chain (for reference):
No video but the sound is better:
They’re very little about these two that I’d say is identical tbh.
