Changing instrument vst's (AbletonLive) from the Octatrack

Hello there !

I’m asking myself on how to send command to ableton to change instrument or column, if I want on my midi first pattern a bongo virtual instrument andmaybe a xylophone on the next pattern, Is it possible to create automaton ofchanges from some midi CC ?

Can you explain me about plugin organisation in this situation, is it, one plugin per column and column ordered by midi CC ? I hope it can work with CC’s, can you confirm me please users ?

Thanks a lot !

Set a bunch of VSTs up and set the channel for each track then you select your midi channel on your OT per track, is that what you’re asking? You won’t be able to make OT change VSTs but say for example you have a bongo on track 1 in your DAW set to midi channel 1 and you set up your OT to play channel 1 it will work, then you can set a different instrument on track 2 and send to channel 2 from OT. If you want to change what midi channels are set up all at once you’ll have to change part, got it?

As for automation you can choose 8(?) CCs per track on OT, you can then live record these or P-lock them. You’ll have to midi learn the chosen CC in your DAW to whatever parameter you want to change

Really does seem like a super killer combo of hands-on sequencer with a nearly infinite amount of sound sources, fx, and parameters to manipulate…
Note to self: Set up OT to control 8 vst’s with cc’s mapped for each one, forget there’s a computer, control everything from OT…

Guys it is really wonderful.
Then as a studio (or liveshow) idea I created routing beetwin live and my Analog Four who receive some sounds from between it’s filters, reinjected into MD master effect and sampled back in OT.
I’d to try to receord a maximum of inputed-flows.

Sounds a lot incredible.
Will make a test vst Juno 106 > vst RE201 > then analog four Usb
