Change long loops - Octatrack

Hi Octanauts

Maybe its not possible, but i asking. Can you change a long loop on the same track while its playing? Without new trig. I think about it would be very nice to change the loop and the new loop continuously play from the previous was.

Yes. Look up parts.

Hmmmmmm … really? Continue playing the new one from where the old one was (switching the sample, but not the playhead position/offset)?

IMHO it’s not even possible to get the new one playing without a new trig.

a tought that maybe if the 2 loops both loaded into the audiopool :stuck_out_tongue:

When you think about it: It is not only about the playhead position/offset, but also about the envelopes and (retriggered) lfos which needs to be set to the exact state for this to work correctly.

So, yeah, would be nice to just inject a new sample (which requires a part change) and let everything continue to run as-is, but that’s not possible.

It’s possible with 2 hard panned mono samples on the same file, using Spacializer fx.

What length?
You want the new sample to play just after?
You don’t want to mix the loops?

You can trigger slots quantized, use trig contitions like 1:8, scale 1/8, slices…

The loops are 4 or 8 bars.
I want to change it without a new trig. I want to play immediately, when i push yes in the audio pool. And play it from where was the previous loop. :stuck_out_tongue:
I know how to mix them. I just wondering about this ‘trick’ maybe it possible.

Just to be clear : loop 1, stopped at step 13, loop 2, played from step 13?
Why no trigs?

With @wascal’s Megabreack of doom, you can switch between up to 128 loops with the crossfader or Start knob, keeping sync without restarting. Requires trigs.

While the loops playing just hold the trig that’s already down and sample lock it to the next sample [trig+level knob], when the playhead passes the trig it will play the new sample. Alternatively you can put your samples into a folder in order and when you’re on the slots page press [func+right/left] to change it to the next sample in the folder, if you don’t want to sample lock. It will play like I said before when the playhead passes the trig. Is this what you’re looking for? If you’re using an 8 bar loop you can do it by setting the track to 1/2 speed or using one shot trigs at regular speed, but then you’ll have to arm it when you want the sample to change. This works better for more repetitions.

I think @nedmanish wants to change the loop and switch to the same timing position in the sample.

i found a VERY EASY  way to make the effect i wanted. It needs 2 track but isn’t need new trigger(easy to make for me in live situation) and the new loop plays continuously not from the beggining( it was also important for me)

The crossfader’s scenes are setup like this.
-Scene A , T1 on maximum level (playing loop1) and T2 on minimum level(playing loop2).
Then
-Scene B T2 on maximum level, T1 minimum level.

its very well working with longer loops

Too easy. Not on the same track as in op. :stuck_out_tongue:

Theoretically, up to 3h30m loops. :loopy:
