Is it possible to change a digitone patch/preset from the Octatrack on a pattern change?
I’m not having the DN follow the OT because of the kit per pattern on the DN,
and I’m just using it as a sound module sequenced from the OT to save the hassle,
but I would like to change patch on some patterns.
Think the OT can change patches when changing parts but haven’t tried yet…
but don’t want to have to change parts if possible
If you use midi tracks to send Prog Change instead of Midi Sync page, you have to change parts.
I think I’d use Midi Sync anyway, or a mid processor to map a CC or a Note to Prog Change.
Ok thanks thought so, i might be ok with just using parts if have too or get midi processor…
I’ve seen you mention the midi processor a few times probably would be good to have.
how would you use the midi sync page though?
In a regular way, patterns synced with the DN.
I don’t have a DN, with with AR and A4, I usually assign a different Kit per pattern till now.
Just tested and Not possible to change just pc for patches with parts from Octatrack,
You must turn on program change receive in midi sync options and that makes the pattern change also…
looks like midi processor is the only way to changes patches on digitone from Octatrack without changing patterns
It should be possible. It sends the same kind of Prog Changes. Main difference : it sends PC at the beginning of the new pattern, and the Midi Sync page sends PC before the new pattern, at the end of current pattern.
Midi Sync page PCs and midi track Note Setup page PCs are independent. You can send both.

You can send PCs manually, changing / validating them.
Maybe I missed something about DN patch / patterns…
It does change the patch on the digitone with part change
but you must turn on receive pc on digitone for it to work.
But when you turn the receive pc on the digitone also makes it change pattern…
It would work perfectly for a regular synth not for digitone.
I want to change patterns on the Octatrack but not on the digitone
only want to change patches on digitone.
I can’t turn off pattern change and still receive pc for patches on digitone,
The Octatrack works as expected
There isn’t a way to just change a patch on the DN

If the DN is sequenced by the OT, changing DN patterns doesn’t seem a problem…
A midi processor wouldn’t change DN’s behavior concerning PCs.
I see it as each bank on the analog series and Octatrack as a track
where you could have up to 16 different variations of patterns… that’s plenty
I guess the 4 sounds on the Digitone Sequenced from the Octatrack is enough
if you set up ccs on the OT to change the sound throughout I mainly wanted to changed to an altered patch not a completely new sound
If you sequence on the digitone and your song has say 4 different patterns
To go with your analog and ot and then you decide you want to change the 4 sounds on the digitone it’s copy and paste galore and making sure you have each pattern sound set exactly.
If the DN and DT had the option for kits they would all work the same less hassle
So sequencing from the Octatrack seems the easiest option
Don’t forget Multi Map!
