Chains for OT!

Working with chains on the A4 is so awesome! It’s really quick and easy to put together a complete song. I particularly like the way the A4 handles muting tracks per sequence. You don’t have to navigate to the M in the arranger, you just hit function+track when in Song Edit mode.

Unfortunately, with the OT, you have to dive for this action. And now after working with the A4, seems archaic.

Please implement chains and this muting feature in a future OT OS update - please, please, please!!!

Could you explain how they are different from OT Chains. I’m intrigued.

On the A4 you can step in and step out of a pattern in the chain, without losing the chain.

The mute feature I mentioned above is also a key difference. This is streamlined on the A4 so you don’t have to do as much tabbing and menu diving.

On the A4 you can have multiple chains (called Song rows). So you can have an intro chain, verse chain, etc. On the OT, you only get the chain you key in. Once you hit stop, it’s gone.

In general, working with chains on the A4 is more streamlined and intutive.

I’m hoping Elektron can integrate some of the key features of the A4 and RYTMs chain and song modes.

[Function]+Track on the OT will mute the track when in any mode. Works on MIDI tracks too. Also there is the part mute function that sets the first 8 trigs as mute buttons for each track and the remaining 8 for MIDI track mutes.

What you are saying about the pattern chains sounds like the arranger mode (song mode on the other boxes) but I never use it so I am of no help on specifics.

I’m pretty familiar with the OT’s way of muting tracks. What I like about the A4 is you can have different mutes for the same pattern. For example, if you have 4 copies of pattern 1, you can have have 4 different unique mute combinations for each pattern.

I like this because then I can make one big sequence, copy it a bunch of times and instead of deleting individual tracks from specific sequences.

I just learned about this cool feature working with chains on the A4. I think it would be super awesome on the OT.

Is the muting function different than parts in the octa?
