Can't solve the noise coming from Syntakt

Hello everyone.

I went thru all the posts about this matter before creating this post and already created a ticket with Elektron but maybe someone had the same problem.

My Syntakt is away too noisy to be usable and the noise always hits different frequencies when I pause the sequencer.

I have a DFAM, Novation Peak and a Digitakt besides this and none of them makes any noise so I think we can exclude any ground loop or anything power-related because everything is powered by the same power outlet.

Overbridge or outputs directly into my SSL12 the problem still remains.

It happens on all the outputs, even with all the tracks on 0 volume. Changing the drive on the FX panel does nothing.

Does anyone have any input on this.

Thank you.

Audio sample of the problem.

That’s not “noise”, it’s a note not turning off in the sequencer.

Does it stop if you double-tap the STOP button?

Do you have the delay feedback turned up too high and it’s just working on the noise from the FX track or something like that?

Does the noise stay if you mute everything including the FX track?

It does.

Kinda strange to have a note playing even when I have everything muted no?

No feedback at all and yes, it still there after muting all tracks.

i agree , it sounds like a tone from the bassline track as it can be heard extending at different pitches.
i suggest.

  1. start new project
  2. load totally different tones to each track.
  3. save project
  4. turn off / on and reload project .

or
check the amp envelope on all of the tracks, make them all short sustain and release.

youve probably done all this

One other thing to try is to run the analog cal but I’d make sure FW is up to date and test out a new project to see if either of those fix it first

and unplug everything except power
i think one of the leads , if plugged in , can impact calibration.

Yeah the cal will freeze if you have usb or midi cables plugged in

This. Sounds like what the amp env will do by default on SY Raw and SY Dual VCO until you reduce hold time or decay.

Muting only mutes the trigs, not the audio.

double pressing ‘stop’ will stop all audio
pressing it once just stops the sequencer.

@jeffroman calibration solved it!

This is was annoying.

Thank you everyone for the fast replies.

Keep in mind that “muting” doesn’t mean having volume down to 0, on Elektron machines (except Octatrack): it only means the trigs are not played for the muted track, as @Nils said.

When you want to kill audio, double stop is the way, as @re5et said.
