Cant select midi in on transfer app

i’m trying to upload some custom samples to my model:samples, but i cant select a midi in option to connect to my computer. i thought it would be as simple as connecting via usb and dragging files, but apparently not. what am i supposed to do? it says no midi input available and i think i’ve gone through every setting

Is it windows or mac?

windows

Ok, so first off did you try the easy stuff like turning the computer and the M:S off for like 30 seconds and then turning them back on? I swear the first couple of times I tried to use transfer with my digitakt I could not get it to work until I finally turned the computer off and then after turning it back on it connected.

i’ll try turning off my computer

Check if the Model Samples is visible as a USB device under Windows settings. Make sure Transfer is newest version.
It always worked for me, simply plug in cable and open Transfer.
Try a different cable maybe.

Also there’s probably a port setting for USB midi on the device. I’ll have to look at your manual to see where, because it won’t be the same as the other elektrons but probably has it.

Even with Midi completely disabled Transfer works. At least on my Elektrons.

turned the computer off and on and it still says no midi input available. might order a different cord if that’s the issue. cant get it to recognize it. and no, the model:samples doesnt show up as a usb device

Ok first though, did you do this already?

Then I’d think it’s the cable. It has to show up either as audio interface or as usb midi, but it has to be in the settings or it means Windows does not see it.

I’d try setting it to midi or I guess A+M would work as well, but it shows 3 modes and one of them is probably “off”. If yours shows off, try and switch that real quick.

Nice. Game on!

was getting bored with the samples that came with the device so i recorded some guitar hits for the sampler. cant wait to get more new samples on here

Yeah, that will be fun. I think the transfer software will convert them to whatever the right format is for M:S by just dropping them into the window so you shouldn’t have to worry about that.
