AUM needs to be the master unfortunately, unless you use another app so that it receives clock from Digitakt via Ableton link…
Just found this out in another thread, you can run AUM in a slot in AB3 and sync audio buss 3 to your DT. You can also get transport control using this method.
If you just want straight sync and no transport control you can use MiDi link.
I have midi miitr, but I could not even get that to work right.
Just tried the first solution Aum inside AB3 ,and then ab3 clock synced to digitakt . it works!
Figured it out. Didn’t require any apps.
Just plug usb into digitkakt, in Aum where the tempo is set, there is a send midi clock tab, just enable that and it’s in sync. No ableton link either.
so are you using Aum as a midi clock right ?
as mentioned above
‘AUM needs to be the master’
in some ways it depends what your doing too , if its ambient type stuff , as long as theyre both the same tempo they could be a little out in terms of starting.
i mostly render off loops from aum and dump them onto digitakt/octatrack to mangle with , ios isnt so great for some types of hands on control.
Bit of a derail here, but can Digitakt also act as an audio interface for AUM with the camera connection kit?
No ,it can’t because it’s not a class compliant audio interface , however you can connect the digitakt to send/receive Midi to the ipad via usb
Thanks.
One of the few things that the M:S can do better than DT
I use a zoom u-44 on my iPad, just connect it via usb to the iPad using the camera connection kit (i suggest the one that as a power input) and youll get both audio and midi. Than you could connect midi input output of the interface to the iPad through 2 normal midi cables, and of cours audio input and outputs
You can do that via usb.(iPad , cck , usb into digitakt for usb midi)
But you can’t do audio via usb , you have to use interface and audio leads , or probably audio lead to headphone/microphone input of some type.
You can’t do midi and audio via usb(using the cck) unless it has class compliant audio
You can do that , just connect a midi cable from the midi out port of your interface to the midi in port of the digitakt .
Than you have to check the settings on your app ,and select The U-24 as midi out device.
You have to select the correct midi channel on the app to match the digitakt .
Thanks, this is kind of what I envisioned!
In testst the clock sync with aum is not as tight as with audiobus3 just my cents
You can pipe Digitakt audio into AUM with this cheapish audio interface:
It works really well iam using one myself
