Can RYTM trigger non-midi external synths (101, Juno)

Hi there,

Before I buy the RYTM I wanted to know if it’s possible to trigger external non-midi synths? For example the 101 and Juno can both be triggered but neither have MIDI.

Do I need to get MIDI installed on them or is it possible to just trigger them from the RYTM for now?

The AR’s MIDI Out and MIDI Thru ports can be configured to send DIN 24 or DIN 48 sync pulses for tempo information.

The AR’s individual audio outputs can be used to send pulse sounds to trigger the Roland synths.

Yes! I sometime use one of the individual outs to trigger my Juno 6.

Can’t remember which of the factory samples I use (in theory a short square wave I think is the best way to replicate a CV signal, but I think i found something better) - but basically you just need to send a short, loud signal into the arpeggio trigger input of your synth.
