I never quite got my head around chains, but can now set up a “song”, with chains in it.
Is there a way to select a chain, whilst the sequencer is running, in a similar way to pattern selection?
I’m looking at something similar to selecting chains in the same way I’d normally select patterns on-the-fly.

While the sequencer is running, you can go to Song Edit (func & song), and use the cursor to select chains you want. After the current pattern is finished, it will go to your selected chain. There isn’t a direct jump feature for this, but it works. I think you can assign patterns and chains to keys in multi map edit.

…but how do you select the chain? I tried cursoring around, but couldn’t work out how to select the next chain.
Hit yes, I believe? The pattern will go dark to show that it is selected
I’m sure I tried that, and nothing happened.
Ah - I think the sequencer has to be stopped, in order for new position selection within the song to work.
Unfortunately, that defeats the object.
Alternatively, can songs be loaded dynamically, as per Octatrack? I don’t think they can, without stopping the sequencer…?
One alternative I guess, is to use Octatrack to switch patterns on all the slaved kit?
Just did it to make sure I was not crazy. Sequencer does not have to stop. Just select a pattern in song edit, or chain, it goes there on the next bar. Do you have thr most recent os?
Yep - you’re right, thanks!
I definitely tried this before though and it wasn’t working.
Temporary glitch? I’ve had a couple of cases of the system getting in to a weird state, which only a power-cycle cured.
