Cable suggestions

Im looking for some good cables for connecting my AR with my A4.

Midi cables is allready sorted out…Planet Waves.

But audio is another story. First of all balanced or unbalanced cables?

And i want to find some cables that will last me a long time and has good

audio qualities…in other word not HOSA for an example Had bad

experince with thoose cables .

I would really like a educated answer to this as im a noob to synths. Ive been looking at Vovox, Planet Waves and Dimarzio…anyone with any suggestions? Would make me a happy fellow to get some experinced answers I can add that i rather buy couple of great cables directly then to buy something that just does the work…money isnt an issue when it comes to quality for me Thanks on before hand as we say in Sweden

Assuming the 2 machines are close together (less than 15 feet) balanced or unbalanced really won’t make much or any difference unless you’re suffering from a ground loop (hum).

If you do introduce a ground loop, using the other type of cable might help.

Cable quality is a very touchy subject … some people swear it makes a big difference, others say it’s all nonsense.

IMO the best reason for using better-than-cheap cables is because of the build quality. Cheap cables are usually poorly made, and won’t last very long - but you can get lucky. Some of my best / longest lasting cables (10+ years) were really quite cheap.

A very popular brand is Mogami but they are certainly not cheap. Quality is excellent, and they will probably last a lifetime if not abused.

Anyway, for connecting these 2 machines at a very short distance I would not be too concerned about buying expensive cables - as long as they are above average quality you’ll be right - the cable run won’t be long enough for the signal to degrade much.

One more thing:

The left/right I/O channels on the A4 (and I assume the Rytm) are quite close together, so not all cable connectors will fit when used 2 at time for stereo, so if you have a choice go for slimmer connectors.

Okok…great answer dudes Helped me to get on track for the right cable…now its just to get a decent pair of cheeks or case for the machines then im done with all the things “around” the machines

On my stacked rig I have custom right angle to straight.

I think i want to go with stacked machines because of limited space and want to have room for future music equipment Ive been looking at the world grid modular cheeks and the EIT but im not shure with the EIT because of no side holes for vents…

I have one rig that way. an A4 and AR, and there has not been any problems. the metal is think so it is a great heat sink and I have an A4 and OT on a stand I made with holes and they run equal to each other…

Hmm thats intresting…then it will probably be the EIT because of the portability. Never know when i want to bring my machines to jam at a friends place and then thoose static cheeks feels like a big disadvantage

Elektron have officially stated that covering the vents is OK.

I use the EIT with an MDUW + A4. Works great, very well made.

Are you using the Standard screws that were supplied with the ST 1? Did you have to Tap the Screw Holes on the AR?

Yeah they are 16awg as appose to 24/28 of Mogami but its a short run and 10th the price

Yes they do give higher signal levels.
