I’m building a skiff mainly for studio use. I compose primarily with an AR and cut samples and do mixing in Ableton. The main thing I’m trying to get from modular is some melodic sequences I can resample. Anyone care to take a look at my proposed setup?
I already have the Erica MIDI CV clock, Mysteron, Ripples, and the Mix02.

Am I missing any key functions in this setup? Anything I should swap out? I’m not new to hardware but very new to modular.

My immediate reaction to that is swap the Mysteron for MI Rings. If you only have 3U, you want as much versatility from your sound sources as possible.
Also, there are plenty of posters here who have a lot of experience in Eurorack, so don’t be dissuaded from posting these questions here!
I don’t agree with the “get a bigger case” 
. It makes you want to buy stuff just to fill your empty spaces instead of thinking hard what you really need. I think a 104 skiff is a great place to start with. You can always sell your skiff and get a bigger case when you really need to.
So basically you have a bunch of CVs and envelopes to control one VCO, multiply its output and send the signals through several filters for a variation of sound. This is a lot of money you want to spent on a hummingbird. You should get similar results with a Mother or an 0-Coast
i think so too. I didn’t follow the bigger case rule so I try to really optimize my 3. It’s diffcult but if I went bigger immediately I would have filled it in no time. could be overwhelming in thw beginning as well
I think it’s nice if people talk about modular here too. The A4 to modular thread was great and shows there are many users here.

I can’t say too much to the rack above cause I never got a closer look to most of these modules. Seems balanced to me honestly
He has 2 voices, Mysteron and rubicon. Also, you may want another VCO to modulate the rubicon (dixie is popular).
I’d also switch the function to maths.
You have many things going on here, I’d start with fewer modules and grow as needed.
I’m biased as i own an MN shared system, but i’d start with a DPO+MATHS+Optimix+what you already have and thats it.
For diversity I would try and sneak in a wavetable oscillator
Erica Synths Black Wavetable VCO sounds really good and is very compact.
The rubicon sounds great but a lot of hp for a single oscillator (although very powerful) so not sure it’s the best option in a small system. I would take two Dixie II’s over a Rubicon personally (fm each other sounds great) and very small hp. They function as great lfo’s also with heaps of waveform outputs
+1 on the Maths. The combo of Optomix/Maths/DPO is very powerful.

Yeah Maths is great, although another option for same hp as Maths could be the Function you already have, and the Wogglebug for some random madness

I reckon I must have spent at least 8 hrs a day on Modular Grid tweaking the endless options and configurations.

Yes, having ventured into it recently I have to say it’s incredible fun all this wiggling… but hard to not lose track and go ballistic. I have a shared system and AJH minimod (replaced my Voyager). Keeping it simple and trying not to get swayed from the great offerings of other manufacturers… (I am lusting over Rings and Atlantis/Metropolis combo)…
