What are some of your favourite techniques for building ambience/drones from Field recordings on the OT? Been having difficulty in this area…

I really like pitching down a sound 2 octaves lower, then adding lots of reverb…
For some reason it’s even better on AR

Oh interesting! Didn’t think about doing it on the AR. It does, as a newer piece have better sample rate (48khz) and the benefit of analog circuitry.
Oh ! And reversing can be pretty cool as well !
I’ll confess I have a thing for old doors. They have each their own set of noises, and above techniques work very well on such sounds.

I got the OT mainly to mess with field recordings. Slowing down is also one of my favs. Resampling on another track and doing some slicing up is another one. I pass most of the tracks through a modular synth using delays, filters, resonators and granular fx then feed the modular back into the OT and add some compression and reverb.

All of the above.
And lots of trigs and lfo on sample start. Works with few trigs as well depending on the field rec.
Also, very slow unsync’ed lfo on filter base. I usualy try to find tones in the fieldrec and make melodies, but thats very time consuming.
