Loving my new RYTM. Only had it a few days and it’s fitting in nicely beside my Tempest :o
So, when in pad trigger mode if I hold down the retrig button and a pad, say the snare on SD2, and if I enter any other mode (FX, Mute, Chromatic, Scene, Perf) while holding down the pad it stays stuck when I let go and keeps retrigging and the only thing that will stop it is going back to pad trigger mode and hitting that pad again.
It’s no wonder they’re busy in support, that is what happens when you exit performance mode whilst holding a pad, the light stays dim, signifying this is a ‘feature’ - might even be mentioned in the manual, I don’t know, same with mutes, if one is muted, mute will stay dim on entry to another mode - sounds like a good thing, not something to report imho
No need for the snide remark. I am aware of the behaviour of the pad lights when changing the various modes (from having read the manual). The fact that a sound remains audibly “stuck” strikes me as odd - hence reporting it to Elektron.
Fine, you asked a question, I offered an opinion, maybe somebody will give you a better/different one, but it’s unlikely to be worthwhile if you close the door you just opened and send in a support ticket, they’ve said they’re about a few weeks behind, why even post here ! Doesn’t sound like a bug, even if it is, sounds useful
Nah man, I think it’s a feature and I like it this way. It really comes in handy whilst using performance mode, you can freeze the effects this way and glitch some shizniz.
Avantronica is right, I believe. If it is a bug, I hope they don’t fix it. Just my 2 cents.
Check this video, around 2:40 in Guga uses the retrig feature that you think is a bug. It seems to come in handy. Just get used to the workflow of the Rytm, give it some time before thinking something is a bug.
Hi Dtroy.
That’s a nice video, thanks. Yes, I can see it being used to good effect there alright. It’s also used really well in this video at around 3:10 and later again:
So, it’s clearly a useful trick, but having said that, I can also see a use for this behaviour to be disabled.
In any case, Elektron support got back to me and were able to reproduce the behaviour and said they were sending it on to the development team. I responded that it would be more useful to offer a way to control this behaviour (i.e. retrig across modes) on and off in settings so as to give us users the best of both worlds I guess.
I’ll report back.
Here’s hoping they leave this handy feature possible, it’s consistent with other aspects of the UI and you could of course just release the retrigger before entering another mode !
