Buchla & Friends 2026: Two Days of Synthesizer Community in Downtown LA
Jan 24, 25, 2026 ( Saturday Sunday )
C&I Studios • Los Angeles
So think of something like an Omnichord with the buttons layed out in a circle of fifths – major next to relative minor. Then add in sound engines additive, subtractive and granular, with FM all based on overtones of the harmonic series, with variations.
All this in a hand made interface with buttons and sliders, a walnut enclosure and battery power.
Here’s a video to give a taste of the sounds possible. There are many other videos if you look.
I’ll be there! My buddy Otter Mods will be presenting, if you’re into modular gear I recommend stopping by his table. He’ll be showing off some awesome pattern generators he’s been working on for a while.
In fact they have a headphones only policy ( except for special rooms ), that’s nice, and it’s designed to be a “hands-on” event. You are really encouraged to bring your own headphones.
This specific venue is new this year. C&I Studios, a downtown LA sound stage.

If they updated any of my elektrons (DN2, TV, Syntakt) this month I’d be elated. I’ve been pretty happy with my gear setup and digging into the weeds with these boxes is my goal for the year but there’s definitely some little things I really want on all of them.
I tried to use the Tonverk but I could not get it to make any sound at all Was going to say something because I think something was wrong but I felt embarrassed so I just left.
I’ve been there before, but ya just gotta push through that feeling. Nobody cares! Mario has happily explained the machines to every possible kind of person at every possible level of understanding!
