Broken sequencer button (?) A4 mk1

Hello everyone,

I have this problem (photo) with my A4, the button works partially. This happened after I serviced the machine so I’m thinking that maybe the technician put that specific button back incorrectly? Also I’m not able to pull it all the way up, only to kinda twist it and push it back in.

Pull the grey cap off , it might been put on the shaft incorrectly

Or send it back to the technician?

Or ask elektron support for an encoder and resolder a new one onto the board.

Oh so the whole encoder is being lifted off of the board? Hmm yea, ok I’m only asking cause i didn’t know if that had a simple fix kind of “twist it that way and it will click”.

I guess back to the tech :frowning:, Thanks

The grey cap should come off separate to the button ( which is soldered to the board )

If it came back like that from the technician … he/she should fix it…… unless it got damaged in transit.
I think the buttons have 4x solder points but if you’re not comfortable doing it … get it done professionally.

Just to add - don’t do anything you aren’t happy to do - I don’t want to be liable for any damage. So feel free to ignore me.

Yea, that definitely tells me that something is wrong with the soldering of the encoder, since the whole thing rises with the button!

Of course, worry not, it’s going back to the tech!
Thanks for your time and help!

you need to send it away for repair

@re5et, @Bitsnbobs

Do you think I should contact Elektron to purchase a substitute encoder part?

When the key is pushed back in the encoder does work, but I don’t want to send it to the tech and wait for ages until it arrives, as I can play in the meantime…

It seems as if the legs of the encoder are not soldered on the board anymore… but that’s just my estimation

just play it
