i just got a brand new elektron octatrack, when i insert the card it shipped with and power it up it just crashes and restarts over and over again, i really hope im missing something simple here?
i can start it in demo mode, however whenever i push in the card it instantly crashes.
any help appreciated, see video to see exactly whats happening:
Have you tried plugging the card in before you turn it on?
I’ve never even turned the OT on without the card in.

I would contact Elektron ASAP. Could be a faulty unit. If you have another CF card, I would try that as well.
take a close look in the slot (with flashlight) to see if any of the CF pins are bent. If not, see if you can borrow another card and test.
My first thought is the pins as well… be very careful inserting that CF card… very easy to bend those pings

thanks for the reply, i got a flashlight on it this morning and there was a couple of pins that where ever so slightly bent and also a couple of pins that are noticably longer than the other pins on both of the far sides, im not sure if that is normal, anyway i carefully straightened the pins and tried again and now it says corrupt partition…so off on one problem onto the next i guess, going to run into the city over the weekend and get a card reader and try a reformat, i guess ill lose all the factory packs but heres hoping it atleast works.

If it was brand new and you got it in a shop, go exchange it. Don’t muck around with performing surgery on the thing and risk making the problem worse.
Also- you can download the factory samples/ packs that come with from the elektron website.
does anyone know elektron’s policy on this. My understanding is that they don’t cover bent pins and since you need to install the card…
curious to know how they handle it.

cheers again for the reply’s, i got a card reader from the shops yesterday and after wiping/reformatting it the octatrack accepts it, something about putting it in with those bent pins initially must have corrupted the card, so finally up and running albeit the factory sounds/sets that were on the card, in the octatrack downloads section is it just those partial loopmasters packs which are the only ones that are pre loaded onto the card?

and for the record im not sure about elektrons policy, i wrote them an initial email and the only reply i got was “thats weird” then they ignored my following emails, the store which i purchased it from in Australia was very supportive though and they were ready to take steps to organise checking it out, i live overseas from any stores though so its a massive pain in the ass to send it back.
