Boutique collectors come forth!

I’ve been thinking about buying more Roland Boutiques. I currently only have an SH-01A, but have owned in the past the TB-03 and JU-06 and I often regret selling them. I can only fit two or three on my desk but the great thing about these is you can easily hot swap them whenever you want a different sound.

So I’m thinking of building up a collection. I might start with the JU-06A and will probably put in a preorder for the JX-08 (which looks like an amazing synth). I’m also thinking of getting the TR-06 and TB-03 (again).

Anyway, this has got me thinking. Are there any serious collectors of boutique synths out there? Do any of you own an excessive amount of these?

Let me know which ones you own, would be interesting to know who has the largest collection

Would also be interested to know which boutique do you think is the best one?

The JX-03 is completely awesome. I really loved using it! My only caveat was the meager amount of patches you could save…

I would if I had the money for them. I’ve had an SH01A for 3 years now and you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands, sir.

I’ve had them all and the only two I kept are the SH01A and TR09.

I’m tempted to rebuy the TR08 just cause cranking the volume gave a perfect techno-like distortion, and it’s still for sale. I miss that distortion.

Had and sold:
TB03 - sounded great and was fun to use but after wanting an acid machine since the 90s, I realized it’s not something I’d use often.

SH01A-sounded good but also wasn’t getting much use.

A01-served no purpose in my studio or elsewhere.

Still have:
D05-sounds great and satisfies my Roland PCM obsession. Especially fun paired with an Octatrack or Digitone midi track(or two or three or four…) and a retrokits RK002 using “D-05 or D50 CC Sysex”!!!

K25M-kinda junky feeling and I rarely use it but I’ll hold onto it as long as I have a boutique synth just in case.

Future:
JD08-I’ve been hoping for this one since the boutiques launch! Expectations are high!

I still have a JU-06 because I haven’t got around to selling it (should have cashed in before the JU-06A lol), but love my SH-01A I’ve had since it was released.

I wish I bought a D-05 and have thought about the TR08 for a different style of sequencer but haven’t been quite convinced I’d enjoy it more than samples in Ableton or Digitakt.

It seems like the SH-01A is the one most people keep hold off. I love mine but I wish they’d upgrade it like they did the JU-06 and get rid of the ribbons and add an arp.

I just bought a 2nd hand JU-06A with K-25M keys, can’t wait until next week to try it

Crazy prices I see the D-05’s are being listed at. It never really appealed to me.

I want them all. I think they are super cool.
But have no space for them :slightly_smiling_face:
Probably get the SH01A, TB03 and JX03 at some point

Buy cases to store them and then just swap them out?

I have the TB-03 and TR-06, with a JD-08 on the way. Also had the SH-01A but sold it (and kinda regret it, it sounds awesome). I’m continually tempted to get the TR-09 too when it comes up but they’re pretty sought after these days.

The TB-03/TR-06 combo is super fun though. I’m actually considering getting a second TB-03 to continue my TM404 ripoffs :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if Roland will ever make a boutique MC202. Maybe it’s not different enough to the SH-01A..

I’ve got one. Its sounds brilliant Pretty much never use it since I got the big TR8-S. Boxed it up and forgot about it. Then I saw them going for around 1000AUD second hand… which is ridiculous, I got mine on sale for less than 400 not long after they came out. So I’m keeping mine for now. Cant figure out why.

I’ve got TR09, TB03, SH01a, D05, and TR06 and I use/like SH01a most. It makes for a great OT companion.

I have three (tb03, sh01a and tr09) which is excessive for me because I never actually have time to make any music with them. I’ve barely used the tr09, but really like the other two.

I have SH-01a w/ keyboard and have pre-ordered JD-08. If the JD bombs then will likely swap for JX-08 (or JU-06a). Really looking forward to trying out the 2 track sequencer and syncing multiple boutiques.

In Airaland I have TR-6S and MC-101.

UPDATE: just watched the Anderton’s JD-08 video sounds are rad AF

Used to have 08,09,01a,03.

Sold 08/09 due to much preferring to play the 8s. Probably going to sell the 03 soon, as the Norand Mono is just so much more fun to play, and covers a lot of the same ground (and then some). I don’t think I could bring myself to sell the 01a as it was my first synth.

I’m kinda tempted by the new JX.

I don’t have them all set up yet in my current studio; still don’t have my new studio fully set up yet. I haven’t decided if I will set them all up. I may just set them up as needed/desired.
