What do you have in mind?
i d like the ipad software strom to be run on a raspberry pie in a ipad emulator … or whatever else it will take to make this dream come true, I use strom without ipad … plus teeth whitening and quantised toast
What would be the benefit of such a thing?
Please don’t tell me cost…
okay I wont
Thinking of the most basic thing that might be useful is a Pi + audio card with audio cable(s) connected from the RYTM (or any other source) and midi between the Pi to the RYTM
two big buttons on the Pi:
press button 1 = instantly overwrite record to buffer whatever audio is coming in to wav until release
press button 2 = auto name the audio file in the buffer and send as sysex to the Rytm
making it more complicated you could add other features like
- syncing the start and stop record points to midi clock intervals coming from the RYTM (eg when you hit button 1, it only starts rec on the next beat, and records for 1 bar, and then auto names and sends to RYTM)
- fading start and end points to zero crossings before sending
- send audio in to the RYTM for playing one shots assigned to other buttons on the Pi.
getting really fancy, have an lcd display on the Pi of the recorded audio and 4 knobs and a button: 2 to trim start and end points and 2 to zoom horizontal/vertical and button to execute the send sysex…
… soon it seems we are building an octatrack! lets just have send/receive SDS added to octatrack and it can partner very nicely with the RYTM and also receive samples direct to its current track audio buffer!
foremost, I d like to emulate the CTL machine from the MD … hence have 6 knobs, and these mapped to a midi control surface… a midicontroller would not have the same form faktor and programmability options I guess… plus your mentioned sampled upload would be killer dope awesome
