Broadly, the platform is obsessed with Trump et al. IMO, resistance to our new oligarchal overlords also includes not being confronted with their every move and utterance.
I subscribe to a bunch of blocklists - MAGA chuds obviously but also follow farmers and #resistance grifters - it seems to me that the latter are more likely to be bots. Improves the experience a lot, I still get some political stuff but usually from funny/insightful accounts that I’ve actually chosen to follow.
One of its best features, along with the nuclear block. No idea why some people think “free speech” means you have to pay attention online to people you’d cross the street to avoid in real life.
Feeds are also good, means you can get a bunch of stuff you’re interested in without necessarily having to follow all the accounts straight away until you get a feel for whether you want to. I subscribe to these:

They don’t really put that much into my main feed of accounts I follow and tbh I don’t check them directly that often, but usually music related stuff without annoyances. You do have to do a bit of due diligence on feeds / blocklists, but you can just unsubscribe if they’re not working for you.
been on it a while. deleted my twitter long ago… bluesky was nice and quiet for a long time. signal to noise was good. more people there now so it’s busier and election news and stuff is more prevalent but it’s not bad… not a dumpster fire… depending on who you follow. i only follow a handful of people so not getting tons of crap in the feed.
signed up recently, not sure if I’m going to use it that much except for posting music and/or videos, trying to reduce my online time and I actually like how vacant the website feels, not too distracting to login occasionally and post some audio/video stuff
I signed up a couple of days ago. Feels quieter than other platforms so far.
I signed up a few weeks ago though I’ve not posted yet. My partner moved over as well. I was never big on Twitter and only use IG to flings memes back and forth with my partner. I’m definitely looking for good accounts to follow.
You can find me at @d4ydream.studio on Bluesky
My partner, who is just an excellent curator of music, posts the mix that she’s listening to for the day. She just started doing this on Bluesky as opposed to just on IG. If you’re wanting to tap into some new listening that might not otherwise land on your radar then, give her a follow at @ellefasty on Bluesky
Just got this setup https://bsky.app/profile/brianbar.net
I’ve had it for awhile but not really checked it out much. Here’s my link though as I’d love to make more friends there and get involved
Twitter is the antithesis of friendly and open
Not joining Bluesky, I am already on Masto (ravenation.social ATM), so if Bluesky is also on fedi, shouldn’t I be able to converse with bluesky users as well?
how do I follow people on Bluesky? Cannot seem to find any of yall via search from mastodon…
You’ll need a Bluesky account linked for example like this: Bluesky (Social Media Site) - #18 by DoS
Unless there’s another way to do so.
Let me google that for you …
ok, I linked up with bridgy fed, now what?
It can take a little bit of time for the bridge to register across Mastodon and Bluesky, or so I’ve found. The you should be able to find accounts on one from the other.
ok thanks. I read something about users needing to “opt in” for bridgy fed… lets hope this will just work if I give it time
umm nope, doesnt work unless everyone on Bluesky opts in to bridgy fed by following them on the bluesky side.
As I am bridged, I became
@jm2c@ravenation.club.ap.brid.gy
for bluesky users. Or something like that? Heres my Bluesky (mirror) page:

Ach. It did seem too good to be true.
This is a headscratcher for me. I thought fediverse was about interoperability? Yet it seems that either Mastodon, Bluesky, or both, dont want the other to see each other. This goes against everything the fedi is supposed to stand for…
Lets connect.

The ‘fediverse’ was a vision based on every system using the same underlying protocol … the protocol that underlies mastodon, ‘ActivityPub’
If someone (like bluesky) considers that not suitable, they invent their own protocol (in the case of bluesky, ‘AT’) which immediately puts them in a different fediverse, requiring a bridge.
I couldn’t tell you how that divergence happened. Mastodon/ActivityPub was first and BlueSky might have considered ActivityPub but they definitely decided not to use it.
EDIT: from Wikipedia: AT protocol: Criticism: “Bluesky is not meaningfully decentralized and that it is certainly not federated according to any technical definition of federation we have had in a decentralized social network context previously.”
Hello everyone, here is my link: @narti-music.bsky.social on Bluesky
Soon I will be more active there.
