Blink Monk Navigator

4-voice polyphonic analog synth, apparently just released.

Each voice has:

2 Oscillators + Sub Oscillator + Ring Modulator

3 LFOs

2 ADSR envelops

2 pole fully resonant low pass filter

saw, pulse, and ring modulator wave shapes

64 step sequencer

chord memory mode

artificially intelligent sequence generator

oscillator shape control for double saw tooth, pulse wave, and ring modulation

unique ring modulator timbre control

Polyphonic, Duophonic, Unison, and Mono modes

150 patch storage locations

10 sequencer / chord memory storage locations

10 different sequence generator algorithms

sequencer automation control for all main menu functions

dozens of modulation destinations

millions of possible sounds

capable of loading different sounds for each of the four voices

full of cross modulation capabilities

square, triangle, saw, ramp, sample + hold, unique quad sine LFO shapes

unique architechure

With all other DCO synthesizers, each voice is locked to the same master frequency. In the Navigator, each voice has an independent frequency. This allows for stability while also creating a natural analog sound and phasing between oscillators.

velocity control of the filter envelope, the attack, and glide for greater performance control

LFO one can be synced between all voices or free running as well as synced via MIDI

Sequencer MIDI sync

MIDI control over all parameters

In comparison to Analog Four - Navigator has no CV I/O, less onboard controls, no FX, etc. Blind Monk also makes Eurorack modules so lack of CV jacks is a bit ironic, but he did say he wanted to make Navigator a low-cost synth.

OTOH, Navigator is $600 and A4 costs quite a bit more…

it sounds pretty good!

yeah it definitely has an interesting sound… potentially an interesting interface. I am kind of having trouble thinking of where it really would fit into many peoples set ups over some other gear especially in the used range. If it had more voices it would probably seem a bit more unique for the size and function of it even if they made it single DCO per voice for an 8 voice mode and then a 2 oscillator 4 voice mode. Something about it sort of reminds me of the akai VX90 in sound which had those types features but with VCOs.

There are some really great sounds in those initial demos and clips. Definitely one I’ll keep an eye on.

Yes, this is the detail I am looking for and was also unable to find in the manual.

If the AI sequence generator can only generate sequences in basic I-IV-V harmony in a major key it would not be particularly interesting to me.
