If the receipt isn’t just printed then it looks like it was sent to someone in Australia. Hope the banks/police track him down, persevere with it

The receipt in the 2nd image is from Awave, a pro audio store based in Melbourne, Australia.

They’ve been in the business of selling synths for years, and are an official Elektron distributor.

My guess is that Awave probably wouldnt have sold more than 10 Rytm’s
I would say the net is closing in.

Unless of course the pics were stolen in the first place.

EDIT-According to the receipt, It was sold by Awave to a guy in Victoria, Australia
Postcode 3163, maybe 3183.
I thought the pics might be stolen but like Baddcr I searched them and could only come up with the same ad from Audiofanzine,France and Elektronauts.
They don’t seem to appear anywhere else.

Never do business with someone who does not accept Paypal. Don’t send gift payments via Paypal either.

All the photos show is that someone with that name had a RYTM.

He may have been the original owner of a RYTM that was bought by the scammer. Or, just as likely, the photo was just downloaded to be used by the scammer - with no connection to the Mr McDonald at all.

Posting the photos is useful because now they are linked to this thread and if they are used in a future scam attempt, a reverse google image search will ring alarm bells.

When asking for photos as proof during a transaction, ask for the seller to include a handwritten note in the shot - with the date or some other detail that you request.

On that French forum…he’s selling other high value bits, 2 are stated as located in Germany, two Denmark…

I wonder if the moderators on that forum could find the ip address???

Check the box at the bottom and submit your request. I had a problem with someone who sold me something i never received, and they did their best to help me.

It looks like he used an online translator to make his post on Audiofanzine, his french is very approximative. I will report him asap to avoid someone else being scammed.

I’ve already done that : contacted Audiofanzine about the guy, asking if they have infos, etc.
As a long time French user of AF, I expect to be answered

Also it’s extremely unlikely a scammer would include something identifying them directly as part of the scam!

I agree, now that Peza has the info there is no need to keep it up.
It’s quite possible this guy has nothing to do with it and we don’t want to get him labeled as a scammer.

Baddcr, that very thought has crossed my mind a few times and I have been thinking about that alot, but I’m sensing too many other factors that point to fraud, although I am happy to keep an open mind.

But after all, the guy put this info on the internet himself, I guess.
Let’s avoid this in the future !

You’d be surprised how many crooks get identified by such small things…
Shouldn’t be the majority though.

yeah it’s just as likely the photos were taken from a place google doesn’t crawl like ebay or some private sections of forums that you need to be logged in to see, like a lot of for sale places…

pic of item along with your and their user name on a piece of paper is always good.
